the walking belt may be loose. adjustment screws are at the back of the walking belt. one on either side

the resistance is done by a magnet and a motor that moves it closer or farther away from the flywheel. possible the motor is bad or not adjusted properly

better you can replace new display

can you place a blanket on the floor and tip the unit on it's side and put one end through the door followed by the rest slide it through on the blanket

Double check: Chances are that "$%#T Happens" is not your problem. And that if it worked prior to "dis-assembly, it should work after re-assembly". The common denominator is you took it apart & put it back together. So.. something was missed. A wire not connected, a switch not flipped, a wire in the wrong spot, the safety key not in the slot, etc, etc. Good Luck
