why what is the problem

there is no cartridge.

sounds like there is an obstruction between the barrel and the firing chamber.try cleaning the barrel and the chamber. If this does not work make sure when you place the barrel in the firing position that everything is lining up correctly allowing for an efficient release of air from the chamber.

Daisy.com should have everything especially a owners manual with parts list. They don't fool around with safety.

If its your first time using it, make sure the bolt is pulled back before pumping it. Pulling back the bolt resets the sear and drops the valve.

If its well used, either your pump head o-ring or valve has gone bad.
