Ah Nora We spoke yesterday. You have 10 Power Levels Nora from 10% power and in 10% increments all the way up to 100% Power. The owner's manual is here. On page 10 we find:

COOKING IN ONE STAGE
1. Press the POWER button; the Microwave and High
Cook indicators will light and “PL 10” will light in the
display.
2. Press the POWER button different times to set the
desired power; the display will show the percentage
you chose. If selecting power level 70%-10%, the
Low Cook indicator will light instead of the High
Cook indicator.
3. Press number keys to set the desired cooking time.
OPERATION(CONTINUED)
4. Press the START/+30SEC. button to start cooking;
the Microwave and one of the Cook indicators will
blink and the display will countdown the remaining
cooking time in minutes and seconds. It will beep
five times when cooking is completed.

The fuse is internal.

My GE microwave has a metal stand that sits on top of the glass tray and places food closer to the magnetron for browning. Emerson may use a similar arrangement.

Unpluged for safety take the old one out by twisting it left or right make sure you back body panel is remove and dont touch any of electrical exposed part

Buzzer is responsible for beep, mounted on the PCB assembly,removing buzzer or cut the supply of buzzer is only solution

I'm fairly sure the fan has a door switch and that may have failed. if you take the outer cover off the micro wave itself you hopefully will have a wiring diagram of the unit. Many times I have had to replace micro wave door switch's that have failed not letting it start or sometimes such as yours something like the light staying on. Being that you are a service man, I don't have to tell you be sure to disconnect the power to it and then you can use your ohm meter to check the switches. Hope this helps you

Yes, it wont make any difference to the cooking . It will just be harder to see inside when the food starts to burn or boil.

it is not a convection oven only microwave and there is no preheat. refer to your owners manual.
