FEW 12 will wash and drain but wont spin

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check if some small clothes have been stuck in the water pump. If so, please take them out and clean it. The Water Pump is mounted directly to the motor. If still the issue persists, then it seems that the drive motor has gone bad if it fails to start after the water is filled up to the required level and if the motor is running but the agitator is not moving then it means that the drive motor belt is excessively worn. Please check and replace whichever is required. Also please check and reset the circuit breaker and check the fuse. Please remove the debris from the drain hoses and the drain. If it is clogged, clean it. Now close the door and press start/stop button and it will start to spin after the door is locked. Please revert back for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

General electric company washing machine model

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve not closing correctly- its 'no power/default' position. It's the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!

Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call ;-0(
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

MACHINE WAS HEAVILY LOADED, MAKIG NOISE SO WAS

Hello,

If the washer doesn't start, or if it stops when it should continue on to the next cycle, it may not be receiving electrical power, or, if it stopped mid-cycle, the machine's overload protector may have tripped. In this case, take out some of the articles to reduce the load and let the protector reset itself. Then restart the machine. Otherwise:

1) Be sure the machine is plugged in and turned on. If necessary, check the receptacle it's plugged into for power, using a working lamp, appliance, or voltage tester. Be sure the washer lid is closed completely.

2) If the receptacle seems dead, check the circuit breaker or the fuse that serves it.

3) Unplug the washer, and check the power cord. If necessary, replace the cord.

4) Open the lid and check the lid switch and the tab on the lid that it pushes against. Press and release the switch. If it doesn't click when you do this, it's probably broken. If you're experienced at home repair, you can remove the switch, test it, and replace it if needed; otherwise, call a repair person.

5) If the washer still doesn't work, the controls may be faulty. Call an experienced repair person.

Good luck.

Ge washing machine blows fuses when start spin

You may have a frozen bearing or some other mechanical fault that prevents the tub from spinning. This overloads the motor.

Another possibility is a welded contact in the timer that shorts the line instead of reversing the voltage on the motor.
