Actually, it's quite easy to replace:

Take off four screws at the back.
. Between the body and the front bezel, insert a utility knife. The bezel is fixed to the body with tabs. I started from the left hand side from front. The tab is in the center. Careful not to scratch the bezel or the body. Once one tab is open, you can slide the knife or whatever tool you're using to open the rest. Be careful not to scratch.
Once the front bezel comes off, you'll see that the touchscreen is held to the bezel with the help of four tabs. take the touchscreen off.
Next, take the ribbon cable off from behind the screen. You'll have to flip the flap holding the cable open.
The screen is held to the main board with the help of a tape. Don't take it off. Take off three smaller screws which fasten the circuit board to the back body.
Take the antenna off. It's quite easy. It's the same connector that is used for Blue-tooth or wireless antenna on laptops. It'll just flip off.
vii. Next, take the board off from the back plastic body. The circuit board will still be held to the back by two connectors, one (two wire, smaller one) connecting the circuit board to the speaker, and another (larger one, four wires) connecting it to the battery. Both the battery and the speaker are for now fixed to the back plastic body.
viii. Once you've done that, the battery is exposed. Take the battery off (held by two tapes, and some double sided sticky tape to the back body).

The battery is 35mmx55mmx5mm. Buy any 3.7v battery from ebay. That'll cost you about $10, including shipping. The only problem is that on ebay, you might not be able to buy the same connector. Most of the batteries that you get from there also have protection circuitry to protect against overcharging etc. So you'll only have to replace the connectory. For this, take apart the battery from top. Just peel off the green tape. That will expost the connections. Solder them off, and replace the entire chord on the new battery.

Your best option is to search on ebay, you can get a replacement for a few dollars, check dimensions and you will find one that will suit.

2 options. If your device has a reset or restore to factory settings. This should fix it. Then just add back your settings, preprogrammed destinations, etc.

Other option, if does not fix. Check your warranty. Because it is a defect. I have seen this issue before.

Sometimes the reset will fix. JuSt needs a reboot like a computer. Also, the defect as well. 50/50 chance.

If reset does not work immediately contact the company to check warranty sratus. If in warranty will send new one for free due to defect.

Hope this helps

I will advice you try to reset your GPS, to reset your gps, follow this steps, turn off your device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen, and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press Yes to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.
Once the GPS unit is reset, remember to place the device outside where there is a clear unobstructed view of the sky for 15 to 30 minutes in order for it to requires fix to GPS satellites. with this, the problem should be rectify.

gps will work virtually anywhere in the world, if you have the maps for that area

Hi, these types of errors are generally caused when the operating system tries to access a file and for whatever the reason, that file or simply a byte of information has gone missing or is corrupt. The unit can't find the software and spits out a pretty much useless code for the average user. One check the sd card for the unit and maker sure it is not locked (yes they do have a lock on them), it will be a small white? tab on the side that will slide up and down. That's the lock.
If this is good and it is not locked, then i would suggest that you check and see if you have an install cd for your unit. If you do and once you verify that you have the maps, I would suggest that you either get a new 2gb sd disk to use in the gps or reformat the original and install the software again.

First, press the "Reset" button or push the stylus into the "Reset" hole, to see if the navigation software can load successfully. If the program still does not load, then the software may be corrupted.

Hope helps.
