check what mode the cd video is you may have to burn another one with the correct mode for pc
Right click program on cd go to properties check video name plus what is after the . ie home.wmv as you need to burn cds with a general code

You can contact Pinnacle and ask them for a replacement key, but I would suspect they will want you to buy an upgrade to your software. If your new PC is windows 7, your 2004 software will probably not work with it even if you have a code for it.
The good news is that the newer version probably has more features etc. and an upgrade option (if there is one) can save you $ over buying a full version.
I know for my own example that Roxio (another CD/DVD program) is only compatible with windows 7 on their 2010, and now their 2011 versions. Anything else will not work.

Several possible solutions.

1. If you are using DVD-R discs, your player probably does not support them. There are known compatibility issues with DVD-R discs. If your burner supports it, use DVD+R discs.
2. Try burning at the slowest possible speed. That can help your player pick up the disc better.
3. Did you remember to put a menu in the beginning of your movie? Even if you have the disc set to skip the menu when inserted, it still must exist for some DVD players to recognize it as a disc and play it.

go to windows folder (normally in c:/windows_) and there will be a file named miccal and open it .
dont forget to connect the microphone. click next and
again next
and say something i the mic and after pressing the record buton and click finish.
after this you will b able to record any sound using any software .

no it doesn't, you have to download updates from here, but you may still have problems with blue screen, as i do and had to install it on XP instead

You have to purchase the software to get a serial number.

I'm changing this from a clarification to solution because this happens to me on occasion with the product.

Make sure your software is updated as well.

Fill out the online registration information. Pinnacle will give you the activiation key. If they don't contact pinnaclesys.com and they can provide you with an activation key. If you have already registered the product online, check your profile on the website to see if the key is listed in there as well.

The title locked until you purchase it. Then the logo will disappear.

Go to Pinnacle customer service. Give them your passport number. They should provide you with a serial number for mpeg-2 for your passport. I believe it's free.

Make sure that all memory resident software is turned off on your comptuer including any anti virus software.

If you have a secondary hard drive on your computer use that instead of the C drive.

Defrag your hard drive. This way you video will be save as a continous file on your hard drive rather than having it being saved into little pieces.

Make sure that the Dazzle drivers are updated as well.

The important thing is to shut down all memory resident programs and defrag your hard drive.

Make sure that all background programs are not running on your computer. This includes, IMs, Anti virus, email programs. Defrag your hard as well. Your captured material may not be on contiuous file on the hard drive but fragmented into pieces.

What type of processor do you have in your computer and how much memory does it have?

Make sure that you run the PCI performance wizzard as wall as all calibration programs within Studio 9. Make sure that your DVD has recording enabled. This can be done by pressing my computer, pressing the right mouse button on the drive, select properties, select the recording tab, check enable CD recording on this drive. You may have to adjust the recording speed as well if the DVD player has trouble reading it.

This can get ugly.

Pinnacle has a program available on their website called wipe it. It will remove all registry entries from Pinnacle software as well.

The steps to remove Pinnacle software is:

1) Unistall
2) Exectute the wipe it programs.

Then you can reinstall the software.
