No heat but fan is working
If you're comfortable working around electricity then you might try trouble shooting a few things. Most HVAC (heat, ventilation, air conditioning) systems have a window which you can view the circuit board and a blinking led light. The number of blinks corresponds to the error code that is occurring. Some models have an explanation on the inside of the removable access panel. A few things to check for: Does the ignitor glow on start up? If not, the blower will start but then shut down. No glow, no ignition, the safety feature will not allow gas to flow. At that point, check the ignitor, it will be the cheapest to replace. If it glows, I would then check the sensor probe. If the sensor probe does not detect heat (or it went bad) then gas will be shut off for safety. After that, then I would move to checking the Controller Board. This is a little more involved and more expensive. But it really depends on how adept and handy you are. Good luck.
