Epson R2880 InkJet Photo Printer Questions & Answers
How to Epson R2880 slowing down due to motor overheating?
If your Epson R2880 printer is slowing down due to motor overheating, there are several things you can try:
- Check the printer's cooling system: Make sure that the printer's fan is working properly and that the vents are not clogged with dust or debris. If the fan is not working properly, it may need to be replaced.
- Reduce the print resolution: High resolution printing can put more strain on the motor and cause it to overheat. Try reducing the print resolution and see if that helps.
- Check the printer driver settings: Make sure that the printer driver settings are optimized for your specific print job. For example, if you are printing a large image, you may need to adjust the printer driver settings to allow for more time between passes.
- Check the print head alignment: If the print head is not aligned properly, it can cause the motor to work harder and overheat. Use the printer's alignment tools to ensure that the print head is properly aligned.
- Use high-quality paper: Low-quality paper can cause the printer to work harder and overheat. Use high-quality paper that is recommended for your printer to reduce strain on the motor.
If none of these solutions work, it may be necessary to contact a professional printer repair service for further assistance.

This sounds like a faulty cover switch. The printer will do this if the cover is not closed or the switch wire is not connected. You can take the cover off and see if the cable is disconnected or get it serviced thru epson.
Wont turn on
The first step is to make sure that where you plug in your printer has electricity. Unplug your printer from the outlet and plug a lamp or something else in the plug to make sure it has electricity.
If it has electricity, than unplug all the electrical wires from the printer and then carefully plug them back in and then plug your printer back into the outlet. Sometimes these connections simply come loose.

Epson R2880 trying to change matt black to photo black
There are many solutions posted already - what I do is in photoshop i start to print - even though I cant select the paper I want because the wrong ink is recorded - and I click print preview... then click print. The epson drivers tries to print, THEN detects the NEW ink and sends me back to selecting the paper with the new ink properly sensed. I hope this helps.

Hello
this can often be caused by using old, damaged or unsuitable paper or media. This can also occur if the printer's paper support is not used or the paper edge guide is in the incorrect position.
The first thing to check is that the weight of the paper is within specification for the printer
If the error relates to the paper icon paper feed,Remove the stack of paper and try the following:
Power power button icon off the printer and wait until no lights are displayed on the printer control panel and ensure the printer is on a level surface.
Remove any loaded paper and check the auto sheet feeder (paper path) for foreign objects and obstructions.
Check under the printer cover and ensure that the cartridges are seated correctly and nothing is obstructing the ink cartidge holder.
Check for any bits of torn paper around the front of the printer and the ink cartridge holder.
Ensure there are no blockages in the paper exit tray at the front of the printer.
Some printers have a paper thickness lever for printing on envelopes. If your printer has a lever (such as C70, C80, DX4800), check that this is in the paper position paper position. Please note, the paper thickness lever/envelope lever can be adjusted when using thicker or special media.
If your model of printer has a paper thickness lever it may be in a different position. Please check your user guide to find out where it is located.
If the printer appears to be clear of obstructions, you could test the printer. Try loading paper again, we recommend using A4 plain bond paper (64 - 90 g/m2) to test the printer. Follow the loading instructions given below.
. Fan the edges of the paper and tap the stack on a flat surface, then load the paper.
Ensure the paper is placed correctly, square against the right hand side of the printer.
Pull the left paper edge guide across to the left side of the paper. Ensure it makes contact with the paper as this helps to guide the paper correctly.
Ensure the paper is not loaded higher than the triangular load-limit mark on the edge guide. The paper fits under the tabs inside the edge guides and you have not loaded paper too far into the printer.
Make sure that the number of sheets in the paper stack does not exceed the limit specified for the media.

Print and screen color matching is HORRIBLY difficult. It could be a case of old ink, humid air, poor calibration, or different qualities of paper (when comparing two prints).
For best, most consistent products, go to a professional photo finisher/print shop.

Troubleshooting Paper Reversal in Printers:
*Confirm that options related to paper handling are set correctly by checking for specific buttons or switches that relate to paper handling or reversing.
*Ensure that paper is loaded properly to avoid feeding problems.
*Remove any dust, particles, or paper remnants from the rollers, as they can impede paper flow.
*If other measures fail, reset the printer to its initial settings to resolve potential software glitches.
