This machine is very slow and choppy when it comes

Without knowing the system/hardware configuration and softwares installed on your computer/emachine, it's not possible to assume which is the root of the problem. If you haven't upgraded the memory, i would suggest you to do it upto 2gb. Windows xp would run fine with adobe premiere and adobe photoshop, windows media player should not be having any problem if you are upto date with the codecs. Please also check the virtual memory and make it double the memory installed on your system. Uninstall unnecessary programs/applications, it's also important to run system registry cleaning everyday or every alternate day. I would suggest you to run a defragmentation every week so that there's no fragmented files. Run an full antivirus scan using an updated antivirus every possible days.
Good luck.

Running a 1 gig stick and a 512mb stick, system

I assume that you've booted the computer with _ONLY_ the 512MB stick installed, and that the computer recognized it (reporting either 512MB or 384MB), i.e., the 512MB RAM is not "defective".

Hmm. 1024 minus 896 is 128.
So, the "integrated-into-the-motherboard" video-card is "stealing" 128MB of your RAM, to be used strictly for "video" purposes, leaving 896MB for Windows to use.

Now, about the "missing" 512MB of RAM.

1. If you have four slots for RAM, and they are physically arranged into two pairs of two slots, rather than four equally-spaced slots, your motherboard is capable of "dual-channel" mode. But, since your two sticks of RAM are not "matched" (size, speed), you _MUST_ insert both sticks into _ADJACENT_ slots (not slots 1/3, nor slots 2/4), in order to run your RAM in "single-channel" mode.

2. If you have two slots for RAM, interchange the two sticks, to see if that makes a difference.

Emachine w3507 blue light only

If you get nothing but a blue light and no video at all it sounds like you have a bad power supply. They are easy enough to check and replace but not for a first timer. If you know someone who knows more; get a volt meter and put it on the DC scale. Unplug a power plug to a drive or find one that is not used. Measure the Yellow to black and then the red to black wires. You should get 12 & 5 volts respectively.

Not sure it's the motherboard, but it shuts itself

The CHS fan is the chasis fan, this fan should be seated on the case somwhere, the best way to check this is to take the side panel of the pc and power it up to see if any fans are not working, if you find a fan that is not working turn back off and check the connector of the fan is connected properly to the motherboard connector and try again, if still the same you may have to invest in a new fan. They are relitively cheep to buy from your local pc store.

When installing the new fan ensure you place back into the case blowing out, not in, this way you will ensure the heat is being dispersed away from any heated componants.

Being as you have reseated the heat sink and cpu(processor)fan and changed the heat sink compond, as long as you fully covered the metal of the processor then that shouldnt be the problem of the shuting down. Because the bios knows it has a chasis fan it may shut down to protect the motherboard and componants.
hope this helps.

Emachines w 3507 desktop isnt recognizing sdhc

This PC was made before SDHC was finalized so the built-in media reader will not read SDHC. You will need to purchase an SDHC compatible media card reader device. I've seen them for as little as $3.99 and they just plug in via USB.

When i turn on my screen it says no signal and

Either the "data" cable between your screen and your desktop is defective, or that cable is not connected to your screen, or that cable is not connected to your desktop, or the video-card inside the computer is defective.

Check the connections.

Temporarily connect the screen to a different laptop/desktop computer, to see if the screen still works.

I accedentally knocked the power wires off inside

Power On switch, (Button), wires from the front panel that go to the motherboard?

I could really use the name of the motherboard, to try to get you this information.
I don't have an eMachines W3057 sitting in front of me, at the moment, and eMachines Support never states what motherboard is being used.

Usually they are made by TriGem, or ECS, or Intel.

HOWEVER, (Not shouting), from my data bank of information, it is stated that the motherboard used in an eMachines W4022, is version of the ECS 945G-M3.

IF, my information IS correct, this is ECS Support, and the download page for the Motherboard Manual, for the ECS 945G-M3 motherboard,

http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Downloads/ProductsDetail_Download.aspx?detailid=527&DetailName=Manual&DetailDesc=&CategoryID=1&MenuID=6&LanID=9

Go down to the heading - Download.
To the right you will see - Taiwan, USA, Europe, and China.
These are the download server links.

You Left-click on the country name, that is nearest your country you are in.
(I have always found China to be the best for me, and I am in the USA)

After you click on the download server link name, a small window will come up on the right.
My advice is to Left-click on the circle to the left of - Save File.
(This will save the file to your computer. Then you can look at it anytime you want, and won't have to download it again)

Now go to the bottom of the window, and click on OK.

This is a Zip file. A Zip file is used to compress information, so it can be sent over the internet easier. You have to unzip the file.

If you do Not, have your downloads set to go to your My Documents folder, (Windows XP. Documents for Vista), this will go to your desktop screen.

(Windows XP: Left-click on Start, then click on My Documents. In the My Documents folder, this file may have gone to another folder. Folder name is Downloads. Double-click on it to open it)

The file will have 945G-M3 next to it.

When you see the file name, Double-click on it. This will open the Unzip Wizard. Go to the top left of the page, and left-click on -
Extract All Files.
Left-click on Next, Next, and Finish.

You will now see 945G-M3 (1.0b) next to an Adobe PDF icon.
Double-click right on this file name.

You are now looking at the Motherboard Manual.

The connector on the motherboard you are looking for is the Front Panel Header. (Connector on a motherboard is a header) Also known as PANEL1.

Go to Page 20. (Page 12 on the document)
Looking at the top of the PDF file you will see a blue Down Arrow. Click on it to go to Page 20.

The small white squares represent the pins on the connector. The black rectangles shown that go from pin to pin, represent the connector on the wires.

If somehow you cannot download the PDF Motherboard Manual, or are having trouble understanding the Front Panel Header connections, allow me to explain where the wires go.

Let's orient the motherboard position so that we are both looking at it the same way. Same direction.

Processor at the top. Ram Memory slots to the right.
The PANEL1 header is down on the very bottom Right.

The header is rectangular in shape. It has Green, Red, Yellow, and Blue areas on it.

There are two rows of pins.
4 across the top.
5 across the bottom.

The pins are numbered.
Starting at the Top Left, and going across to the Right;

Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. (There is No Pin 10. Just an empty spot)

Starting at the Bottom Left, going across to the Right;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9

1) Pins 6 and 8, are for the Power On switch. (Switch is behind your Power On button)

2) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On light.

3) Pins 1 and 3 are for the Harddrive activity light. (HDD on the wire connector)

4) Pins 5 and 7 are for the Reset switch, (Behind the Reset button)

5) Pin 9 is Not used. Nothing connects here.

Would appreciate hearing how this comes out.

What motherboad is installed in an Emachine W3507

The motherboard is a Socket 775 board originally manufactured by Elite Group (better known as ECS). When placed into this E-Machine, very few changes were actually made to the retail version of the 945G-M3 motherboard. This motherboard was built with upgrading in mind. It supports almost every Celeron D, Pentium 4 and Pentium D processor on the market.
