I changed the power supply on my acer aspire e700

You may have more problems than just he power supply from when the old power supply went out. The mainboard could be bad. Make sure it's unplugged from power from the wall, then check that the memory is seated correctly. Check for anything else that may be out of place or not fully connected. There are also different beep codes for different errors. They've mostly been standardized, but may vary by mainboard as well. Here's a link to common POST beep codes and their meanings: Computer POST and beep codes

My Acer Aspire E700 will not start up

you could have a bad video chip. Failure to POST could mean anything, but most times it's a video chip. Still, you can try re-seating your ram chips, re-seating your CPU, and re-seating the add-on cards that you may have.

WE HAVE JUST HAD A

Unplug everything from the laptop, remove the battery and let it sit for 5 minutes. Replace the battery only, not the power brick and see if it will boot.
Does the power brick have a solid green light? Flashing? Red?
If it will not boot off the battery or power brick it may be fried.

How can I install an addional (second )DVD drive

Starting on page 55 of http://www.manualowl.com/m/Acer%20Computers/Aspire-E700/Manual/114116 you can see the diassembly instructions with pictures. Use as much of the guide as you need, but when you take the case off you'll be able to see the HDD and the first optical drive connected to the front of the computer. If your system is identical to the one pictured, you'll need to remove a little cover directly under the primary disk drive. Then slide your new drive in from the front until it slots into place (there may be screws to hold it into place). According to the manual I linked, you should have a few extra SATA ports on your motherboard (the primary disk drive and/or harddrive should have one coming out the back. follow it to where it leads and you'll see other similar ports to plug your new wire into). If it's not SATA, it's IDE, which is a wide, flat cable (approx two inches wide). The principle is the same regardless...Find the port to plug it in, then plug it into any available SATA/IDE port. Next, plug in the power cord (should be a 4 wire plug if IDE, or another flat cable similar to the SATA cable, but wider). Once that's all hooked up, reverse the disassembly instructions you followed, put the cover back on, and boot it up. Most drives are plug and play, so you shouldn't need to worry about installing any drivers or anything. If you do, just install them like you normally would, restart, and you should be good.

Good luck, and it's much easier than you might think at first :)

I have an Acer Aspire E700 running vista home

Kernel stack errors are nasty and cause blue screen errors.
I would check your installed RAM, if there are no errors, the NTFS error is worrying as that means hard drive failure.
Take your pick really but Heystack errors can be caused by errors on the hard drive.
As you boot up your Desktop, press F8 and select Safe Mode. If it loads then it may be memmory errors. Check memmory by using the BIOS menu and select Memmory Test in the option menu, it will depend on your BIOS version as to what it is called or indeed even where it is, so you may need to search a bit!
If you can get into the programmes, back up all you need and then run Recovery from the F8 menu, then reinstall your data but don't bother with AVG use a propper antivirus like Norton or even Microsoft Essentials.
Hope this helps.

Acer Aspire E700 running Vista. After a complete

I have never heard of such a symptom, but if there's no power it can only be one of two things. Either there is something very strange going on in the power supply, or you have a motherboard with some problem. My feeling is that it's the motherboard, though.

The power switch only sends a signal to the motherboard to turn on the power supply. I have to believe that some problem with the USB controller or the USB power on the board is interfering with the board's operation.

It would be fairly easy to substitute a known good power supply for testing. If you still have the trouble, I'd say it's time for a new motherboard.

Computer turns itself off

Your fan speeds up and slows down in response to temperature inside the computer. More so the CPU.

I would suggest getting a can of compressed air made for computers

take it outside, take of the side and blow all the gunk out of there, Really go to town around the fan (you might want to wear eye protection)
While you are in there just check that the CPU cooler itself is not loose

If it is it will have to be re-seated.

If it needs re-seating don't just take it off and put it back on as that might make things worse with your temperature problem they have to be cleaned and new thermal grease put on ($2-5)

DON'T remove the CPU just the fan/cooler assembly.

You must clean both the surfaces without scraping anything off. Use isopropynol alcohol and cotton bud sticks until both surfaces are clean, you can use your finger nail to scrape harder residue if you wish but nothing else.

DON'T pour the alcohol over the CPU

Now apply some new thermal grease (most computer shops have it)

Be careful about how much you put on

Here are
some basic instructions

Once you have re-assembled your cooler and re-connected it check everything is OK and power up the computer.

If everything went to plan you should now be back in business
