Condenser fan running backwards on heat pump

I am having the same problem, sometimes it runs in the wrong direction, blowing the air down. Sometimes something gets tripped and I need to turn the thermostat to off and wait a bit then restart it. If I am lucky it will run int the correct direction and also will warm the house. Sometimes it send nothing but cold air to the house's forced air.

I'm looking for owners/operating/service manuals.

Check in your attic or wherever the air handler unit is located. A lot of times, the documents are left there for homeowners to access and keep for their records.

If you cannot find them, I would recommend checking Goodman's website. If its not on there anywhere, you may be able to email Goodman and get a manual sent by way of PDF file.

Which order to hook wires back up to comp

I'm assuming you want to wire the compressor up to your a/c.
R or run goes to one side of the contactor, there will be a wire on that side of the contactor going to the run capacitor.
C or common will go to the other side of the contactor.
S or start goes to the run capacitor the opposite side from the wire that's coming from the Run side of the contactor.

Units heating elements wont shut off regardless of

Hi, you will need to replace this thermostat as the circuitry is faulty and keeping the strips energized. The only way to check would be to pull cover from stat and expose stat wires. Power off first. Disconnect the 24 volt hot wire, red and they should shut right off. If so get a new stat. If you need further help, please contact me. Merry Christmas.

Blower motor doesn't start with capacitor installed!

you need a meter that will measure uf (micro farads) it should read within about 10% of the rating 12.5uf otherwise you could charge it with an insulation tester (megger) and short the terminals with an INSULATED screwdriver to see if it discharges.

Fan starts and quits several times

I will give you my best suggestions based on the information that was provided. It sounds like the blower motor is trying to come on several times unsuccessfully and then the flame is shutting off. If this is the case, here are my best guesses.
  1. If the blower motor has a run capacitor, the capacitor could be bad and the motor is trying to start but is pulling too many amps and tripping out on the internal thermal overload. You will need a multimeter that is capable of checking microfareds to determine if the capacitor is bad. Capacitors are usually marked....you will commonly see a marking of 5uf, 7.5uf, 10uf, etc... Sometimes all you need is a new capacitor. These are not very expensive.
  2. The blower motor itself may be bad.
  3. If there is a fan switch, it could be bad. A fan switch has a set of contacts that are normally open that will close when the switch heats up and send voltage to the blower motor. These will eventually wear out and act erratically if at all.
  4. The motor may not be getting the proper voltage, this too can cause the motor to pull too many amps.
  5. The most likely reason the flame is shutting off after the blower fails to come on is because the furnace is tripping on the high limit switch. This switch typically cuts the 24 volt power to the gas valve.
I hope this helps!

Ac blower will not run while ac is turn on but run

That means you have lost 24 volts somewhere.

The most common causes for that are as follows.

1) a blown fuse. (usually a blade fuse mounted on the board)
2) a broken/loose/disconnected wire.
3) a bad 24V transformer.

When the unit loses control voltage (24V) it brings on the blower motor. This is done for safety reasons.

How far from the unit or room do you have the remote? remember the remote is the sensor, if it isnt near the unit it will not shut off! place the remote 8 feet from the unit and leave it there, if it doesnt shut off, it was installed wrong or is malfunctioning!

Changed the compacitor unit ran fine for half a

if you let it thaw it sounds like your coil froze up
a frozen coil is usually due to lack of air flow (a dirty air filter or bad blower motor) if both of these are ok then you probably are low on refrigerant
i would suggest finding someone who specializes in goodman or someone who is certified to handle refrigerant to check your refrigerant pressures

The model number as listed on the receipt is CKQ24

Personally I would get an exact replacement capacitor same voltage rating and microfarud rating. The capacitor will read something like 370v 5uf. I would be surprised if that's not the whole problem. If not it needs an exact evaporative fan replacement, and the new Capacitor. Happy cooling!

Fan would not run , so i diconected the breaker on

Sounds like te start capacitor is defective turn power off and mark the wires exactly like they are on the capacitor. Some capacitors are dual meaning they start the compressor and fan together. But if the fan side is bad it will try to start and after too many attempts will damage the fan motor. Let me know if I am helpful or if you need more assistance. Sea Breeze

Vw passat air condining not blowing cold air

It's very possible that the fan itself is bad - relatively common on VW's. First check the fuse for the fan on the fuse panel.
You could also have a fan control module problem. Can you hear/feel the compressor turn on? If so, then the module is good and you probably have a bad fan or a blown fuse.
