HP Pavilion MD5020N 50 in. HDTV DLP TV keeps shutting down

ok this is what you do folks.... un-plug the tv from the power supply. once that is done hold the power button down on the side of the television for 30 seconds. this will release all electricity out of the tv.... then before you plug it back in hold the channel down vol up button along with the power button at the side on the tv this should reset the tv and it will start up automatically on video one. Select your source and scan for your cable channels again. If the problem is not solved then contact someone to come and clean the filter for the tv because it may be clogged along with this it can be the color wheel and may shut itself off like 3 times until it feels it is right.

I have a hp md5820n TV NOISE is coming from the middle front of T

99% chance your color wheel is broken. You will have trouble finding any replacement parts (difficult, but maybe not impossible). HP will charge almost as much as a low end LCD TV of that size to fix it, assuming they even can do so, as I do not believe they have many replacement parts left for these TVs (and are simply cannabalizing old ones, the same as most people who are attempting to fix these TVs). Check on the AVS Forum, there are several threads related to these TVs.

Picture has ghost shadows in the faces of people mainly news anchors. Light colors like whites and oranges also have shadows. What could be causing this?

If it does not really display this when a DVD etc is played via a rear audio/video input it is not the set.Modern cable or sat signals often are compressed and sets cannot on close up views keep up with the signal--when signal is compressed it causes this kind of issue--no way around it.

The tv wont power on

Hello,

Your TV Won't Turn On
If your TV won't turn on, you should check the power cord. Make sure that it is securely in the wall plug. Sometimes the power cord has burned out and needs to be replaced. You may also want to check the batteries in the remote to make sure that they are working properly. If otherwise
Common problem with this TV is the power supply module.
Check the power supply; look for bad caps with leaking/bulging tops, check to see if you have standby +5vdc at the power supply connector, the front red indicator will not be on if you do not have this +5vdc standby voltage due to shorted out power transistor and zener diode, if otherwise, Power supply board just die.It can be dead at anytime.Tries websites Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

I hope this will help to solve the problem.....

Need a hp light engine where could i purchase one

Sadly, there is no substitute. I was just quoted about $1500 for one (from HP), if I were to try to buy it (through a repair shop), and there are basically no parts available anymore for these TVs (everything is pretty much being recycled/refurbished, but availability is quite low).

Hp md5820n when is about to turn on it make a

If it loud humming noise when you turn it on - touch the side of the TV. If it's vibrating enough for you to feel it - you have problem with color wheel. It could be separate replaceable part or it could be integrated part of optical engine.
If you hear buzzing sound that goes off and then back on couple of times - could be bad lamp (even new one), bad connection between lamp and ballast (lamp power supply), or bad ballast.
If you have to replace optical engine and you out of the warranty - don't bother with repair. It would be not less than $600-$800. Invest in new TV.

AV cables reversed perhaps. Sounds like VIDEO (Yellow, Green, Blue or Red) cable is plugged into the AUDIO section. Perhaps you have switched the RED (Left audio) cable plugged into the RED (Component) Video cables. This would account for the loud buzz and since the set isn't getting an image it goes into standby mode. Just a thought.
