Most likely the keypad is dirty underneath.I suggest that you bring your phone to your celluar service provider for assistance.They will advise you what options is available regarding repair cost/exchange.There is a slight possibility that one of key is sticky causing the whole keypad not to work.First remove the battery from the phone.Press all of the keys one at a time.Reinstall the battery.

Or get a USB SD card reader and use that or get a SIM card reader and use that or indeed put the old SIM in the new phone and transfer any data over and swap back. If you are certain that sand has gone into the phone then the phone must be opened and the boards taken out and cleaned using a jet air spray. Brush out all the sand using a tooth brush , check and see if there is corosion if this was sea sand. If so use spirit to clean.
