Search for an internet signal as you normally would by clicking "Search for an access point" when playing wifi on any game. When you find that signal, (You need to be close enough or the DS may not find the signal, within 30 feet is a good range.) you simply click on it and have it connect.
If there is a blue padlock near the signal, you should be able to connect just fine without any other steps. If there is a red padlock, it will prompt you for a password in which case you will have to ask somebody at the library. If it is a grey padlock, they are not using WEP encryption, and it will not be compatible with your Nintendo DS system.

Wait for your DS to run out of battery.

From the wii home menu...


Go to Wii Options in the lower left.


Click on Wii Settings to the right.


From this first list, click the right arrow.


Now on page 2, click on Internet.


Then click Connection Settings.


From this list, click Connection 1.


Then, click Wireless Connection...


and then click Search for an Access Point.


It will briefly search for any access points and when this screen comes up, click OK.


The following will be a list of nearby access points. If the one you are looking for doesn't show up, click Try again. Then, click the one you have access to...


When the following screen appears, click OK...


and OK again.


It will test the connection...


And if successful, the following will drop down. Click Yes to update Wii.


Sometimes the above screen is false, saying there is an update when there isn't and the following will appear...


Now, back in Wii System Settings, click on WiiConnect24.


From the following list click WiiConnect24.


Click On and then Confirm to save your settings. This feature allows for updates to be seemlessly sent to your Wii so you don't have to do the final step every time.

I see you are unable to connect to your Access Point as noted on the question provided.
First console cannot connect to an Access point if it is Password protected.
You will need to disable the Password or Network Access key from your Router to be able to get your DSi to connect to your Access Point freely.
To get security with your Nintendo DSi connecting to your Access Point in your Router setting you can enable the MAC Address filtering and get your devices MAC addresses and have it registered or input in your Routers MAC Address Filtering to be able to get your DSi connected wireless and at the same time have your Laptops and other wireless devices connected.
for the MAC address you can call you Internet Service provider on the issue to give you detailed info on how to access you Router settings for the said connection.

Welcome to Fixya. Nintendo Dsi/DS/Ds XL connects to the internet using wireless connection. You need to know the settings of your router. I've listed below the steps on how you will access the router and to obtain the information needed for you to be connected.


How to access the Router:

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x)

2. Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. (Refer to the manual of your router or post a reply so that i can provide you the username and password of your router)

3. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and theNetwork Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remeber the details.

4. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key to make it secure.

Now that we already know the setting of the router then its now time to connect the Dsi to the network.

1. Go to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings of the Game

2. Search for an Access Point (SSID)

3. Select your Network (SSID), If you have an open network, just click "OK" and it should work just fine! If it's a Red Padlock, it'll prompt you for a Password or Network Key. This is the reson why we access the router.

You need the newest firmware for your R4i, Nintendo is aware of piracy and new games carry protection against being booted from unofficial hardware.

1. • If neither the secret password or the pin is known you many need to call Nintendo who will be able to reset your password remotely, this is there number 1-800-255-3700. This may be time consuming but it is the only way to recover your password without doing a hard reboot.

Here, follow this instructions.

1. On your Nintendo DSi, Go to System Settings
2. Then at your System Settings Menu, Go to Internet then Connection Settings
3. Then Choose a Any Connection.
4. Then Click " Search for an Access Point. " Take note that you must be in a wifi area to be able to find an access point.
5. Now choose a Wifi Connection that has been detected by you nintendo.
6. Just click OK and Ok until you came to the page " Testing Connection "
   
7. Once Connected Go back to your desktop and Click Start ( Be patient while your device is connecting)
8. Now Once connected you have to go to DSi Shop and Download the DSi Browser Using your 1000 points.
9. Now once downloaded and installer go to DSi Browser and click Internet.

The cartridge may be bad, or if the game was forced into the slot the slot maybe broken.
