It is possibly either dirty or bent contacts in the cartridge slot. If the game slides in and out easily then the pins are possibly not bent.... if it does not the pins are bent and you will need the slot replaced or replace the unit. You can use a Emery board (Yes nail file) push the board in and of of the cartridge slot. Make sure the motion is only in and out no side to side or you risk bending the pins. Hope this helps.

What you have is a rom. Unless you have a flashcart (illegal method of playing roms on your handheld), that is compatible with your DSi, it will not work.

What to Do:

1. From the Nintendo DSi Menu, tap on the "System Settings" (wrench) icon.
2. Tap the right arrow twice and then tap on "Internet."
3. Tap "Connection Settings."
4. Tap on "Advanced Setup."
5. Tap on an empty connection file.
6. Click on "Search for an Access Point."
7. The Nintendo DSi will search for any wireless networks within range. Once it is finished searching, it will display the names of all the wireless networks it finds.

1 Hold down the "Power" button for at least four seconds to turn the DSi off. If the system powers off, hold the Power button to turn the system back on and reset the operating system. The system should no longer be frozen. If the system doesn't power off, go to the next step.

You see, Nintendo was just moving into the realm of online gameplay at that time, and had little to no experience in running these things, so it formed an agreement with GameSpy. As time went on, Nintendo started moving off of GameSpy as it built its own networks, protocols, et cetera. In December 2012, Gamespy was acquired by a company called Glu Mobile, or Glu Media, a mobile games developer. Out of the blue, Gamespy started shutting down multiplayer servers, much to the dismay of players all around. It was announced that Gamespy would be shutting down on May 31st, 2014, and that would include Nintendo\'s WiFi Connection servers as well. Nintendo formally shut things down at 11AM (IIRC) EST on May 20th, 2014.I, personally, was concerned that the shutdown would affect my service, Sudomemo, because of some dependencies in the connection process, but it turned out to be fine.To answer your question: No, the Wi-Fi has not been disabled in older consoles. It appears that the security settings entered into the Nintendo DS are not the same as what your wireless router is set to allow, or your router is not able to assign the Nintendo DS an IP address.

How to fix: Make sure the security key and security type are entered into the Nintendo DS exactly as they appear in your router's settings; manually assign an IP address to the Nintendo DS.
