It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Overflow of condensation water

If you have a water filter the water will leak past the filter to the pan if it's clogged up and needs changing.
The defrost water drains to the pan, so if you are having a lot of frost it could fill it up. Excess frost can be caused by leaky door gaskets and frequent door openings.
The condenser fan near the pan should be running when the compressor runs to help evaporate the water in the pan.

My hte21waaww door gasket is causing my freezer to

Check all around the gasket to make sure is not broken , if it is you need to replace it,but if not and is dry and won't stick to the refrigerator, first clean with degreaser around the magnet and also where this make contact with the fridge .After this put very hot water all around the rubber gasket it will make it softer and it'll expanded after this you also can put vaseline on the gasket (is not toxic and doesn'tsmell)specially on the side by the hinges.

Fan is a big issue. New problem though.

good day!first and foremost, in most freezers, the highest freezing point is 7.in regards with the water dripping from the air vent hole, you have to minimize your your freezing setting to the middle.turn it to 3 or 4 freezing point.

Cold Freezer Hot refrigerator

I'm having the same problem with a Haier Model HTE18WAAWW.

Water is dripping into refrigerator section from the freezer section. Eventually, refrigerator section was not cooling adequately. Freezer was freezing, but there was eventually ice crystals inside similar to hoarfrost. (See Google images for hoarfrost if you're not sure what hoarfrost is.)

I turned off and unplugged unit for several hours while I removed the floor pan and internal back panel in the freezer. There was ice built up in the evaporator drain pan that was blocking the air flow of cold air from the evaporator into the refrigerator. I melted the ice with a hair drier plugged into a GFI outlet for safety.

I dried everything off. I could not find evidence of water going down the condensate drain tube below the evaporator to the condensate drain sitting on top of the compressor. I tried running a coat hanger down the drain line to no avail. I poured hot water down the condensate drain line to no avail. I put everything back together. Works fine as far as cooling and freezing, but water is still dripping into the refrigerator.

I think the defrosters are okay unless the heater strip below the evaporator is burned out. I base this on the fact that there is no condensate around the door gaskets even though the temperature in the house is hot and humid. I may have to Ohm that heater out. I'm thinking the drain line is clogged for the condensate drain. It may need longer defrosting.

If longer defrosting don't work, I'm thinking I need to rethink how to clean out the condensate drain line. Maybe low pressure compressed air???

Haier

In units with physically separate sections, there is a fan that circulates the cold air between the two with some provision for adjusting the airflow to balance the temperature between the two chambers.

The cooling system is normally a totally closed loop that is charged in the factory through a nipple that is then pinched and welded shut.
This nipple must be cut and resealed to recharge the system.

Hole in freezer of haier refrigerator

The refrigerant used since ~ 10 years is no more dangerous than the one previously used and it is even doubtful that the newer stuff is any better for the ozone layer.
The original coolant could be inhaled without injury as long as one didnt suffocate from a lack of oxygen.

The repair may not be cheap since it will entail the removal and replacement of the damaged coil.
This will require some specialized welding to install.

Using a normal table-top or floor-standing fan to circulate ambient air through the refrigerator with the door(s) open is a safe and fast method for defrosting units that do not automatically defrost.
Just make sure you have some absorbant material in the bottom to avoid water running out of the unit.

Poking the coils with sharp objects can result in the problem you now have or fracture hidden joints that will allow the gas to escape.

Repair

Defrost system problem will be indicated by frost (snow) on back wall or cooling coil is located in the freezer compartment. Check freezer control setting. If it is set to cold for the freezer it reduces cold air to the refrigerator section.

Freezer fan stopped working

Sounds like you need a new fan motor. First make sure the fan blade turns freely and see if you can move the shaft side to side, or up and down. If you can feel any movement in the fan shaft the bearings of the motor are bad. It is possible for some ice to have the fan blade frozen causing the motor to stall. Some models also have a fan light switch install at a point near the hinge side of the door.
