Find the little battery compartment on the back. Slide it open, tap lightly against your hand to drop the battery out. Insert a correctly-rated new replacement battery in the same orientation as the original battery. Slide the cover back on. They make it about as simple as possible.
Inside measuring is off
Outside measuring is ok? If it measures outside ok and the inside is off then the calipers must have been dropped at one time and bent the inside measurement tips. please rate my answer so I get points for it. By the way you can buy a new set through Harbor Freight tools for about $15 on sale.
Bought a used digimatic caliper
There should be a screw in the top of the slide which controls the tension on the thumb wheel. If this screw is missing, that would be the problem. If the screw is present, tighten it.

The battery is just under a slide cover. You can zero it but to recalibrate you would have to send to a standards lab. The lab calibration would cost more than a new caliper so you really need to justify it.
Basically if it is out of calibration just replace it, they are not really worth the money to recalibrate.
What battery does it use?
It uses an SR44. As far as button batteries go these are nice and cheap. The link goes to Google shopping.

No file error on PC after downloading readings taken from mitutoyo sj-210 surface tester? It used to come up with all readings taken any ideas?
There could be several reasons why the file error is occurring on the PC after downloading readings taken from the Mitutoyo SJ-210 surface tester. One possible reason could be that the file format of the downloaded readings is not compatible with the software installed on the PC. The Mitutoyo SJ-210 surface tester typically saves data in a proprietary format, which may require specific software to open and read the files. If the software is not installed or is outdated, it may result in a file error.
Another possible reason could be that there is a problem with the USB cable or port used to transfer the data from the surface tester to the PC. A faulty cable or port can cause data corruption during transfer, resulting in file errors when attempting to open or read the files.
It is also possible that there is an issue with the surface tester itself, such as a malfunctioning sensor or memory card. In such cases, it may be necessary to troubleshoot or repair the device before attempting to download any further readings.
To resolve this issue, it is recommended to check if the software used to open and read the files is up-to-date and compatible with the file format used by Mitutoyo SJ-210 surface tester. It is also advisable to use a high-quality USB cable and ensure that both ends are securely connected. If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to seek technical support from Mitutoyo or a qualified technician.

QM-Data 200 Mitutoyo with Optoeye-200. How to change or replace battery please?
Apparently the battery is Circuit Board mounted and is a backup memory battery.

he Li battery is mounted on the printed circuit board in the data processing unit "QM-Data". Do not dispose of the data processing unit by burning it. If the data processing unit is thrown into fire, the battery may leak chemicals, burst, or burn violently. Comply with government regulations regarding the disposal method.

• This error message indicates that the memory backup battery is low, and that if you continue to use the data processing unit "QM-Data", backup will not be performed. Save the part programs and measured data stored in the internal memory of the data processing unit to the floppy disk or to a personal computer. •
Contact your supplier to replace the battery.
It also says changing the battery removes any saved data.
So if you are looking to do it yourself, look for screws to get inside.
