Check the intake, the impeller, and the exhaust vane for rocks debris and damage. Remove the debris, rocks, plastic, wood, etc. and reinspect for damage. If the thrust does not improve after clean out, then you have to remove the intake grate , ride plate, impeller housing, and replace the damaged impeller and possibly the impeller housing depending on how much damage there is.

Could be a bad temp sensor. The bog is a rev limiter to keep engine from running full throtle when hot or when there is another problem. You can bypass the temp sensor and see if that takes care of problem. The parts about 100.00. I disconnected mine a now run a temp gauge which I mounted on the right side just above oil gauge.

Always good to start with a compression test to make sure the cylinders haven't lost compression (power). If all are equal and above 100psi you are good. It may be a cavitation problem... (too much air leakage into the jet pump) a gasket kit may resolve this issue if it is over reving on accelleration.

Sounds like your vent tube from gas tank is blocked causing fuel starvation. if its a 96WVT then rite under the seat by the latch are 2 tubes sticking out with a piece of hose to hold it in place, make sure they hav'nt slid down

If the machine (engine) is expected to provide full power supply after due service and the technician have visit the engine on inspection and then he make is statement as explain
then you willmhave to consider the period of use i.e duration of usage ,nevertheless a rebuilt machine might not be guaranty but you are advice to make a replacement on the machine,but if the technician can guaranty you on the assignment he want to carry out then you ca ask him to go hard but i still remain on my statement .

What does the alarm (display) say is the problem? Normaly you will get a specific error like Water TMP or Exhst. I am guessing exhaust and with that it is most likely the catalytic converver has become loose and lodged further down the exhaust.

Open your front hood and take out the bucket, you will see a mess of wires or harness if you will, locate the single blue connector, disconnect. Now you should have a red LED on in the inst pack, hold mode button till it asks for code then enter a new code. thats it dont forget to plug connector back in. You can also bypass the lock so let me know.

Waverrunner engine problem
Ditto problems with a 2007 VX Cruiser. I have two and only one is giving me problems so I don't think its the gas (since I buy for both at the same time). I see no fuel filter between the tank and the injectors. Wondering if I have an injector problem Have used a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to no avail. Additionally, I have had to replace spark plugs with relative frequency in both VX Cruisers.

what you need to fix up to solve this problem is to check on the power supply connected to the started (switch unit on and off ) and make sure that the battery is in good condition
because it is always the problem of the starter trace the wire down to the power unit to see if all wire are in there proper position if not then you will have to release any that has loose it position with care please you will have to note how you are removing the old wire when replacing the new one to avoid wrong connection

The relays always go bad and that's the cheapest and easiest to check.
When button is pushed, you hear the solenoid clicking? If not, check fuse and fuse holder.
Also check battery connections. Use a socket to tighten battery connections.
Procedure for a cold start is as follows:
- Fill the jetski with gas/ oil as needed
- Turn the gas on and pull the choke up.
- make sure that the kill switch is in.
- Press and hold the green start switch until the engine starts and stay's on. If you simply press the start switch, the engne will try to turn over and will not stay on.
- Turn off the choke after the engine is on.
Yamaha Exciter jetboat: eng stops when warm, not overheating
I have a 1998 Yamaha Exciter jet boat as well and am having a similiar problem. I just took it in today and the mechanic believes that it may be the oil pump failing which causes the pistons to stick and not lube the engine properly, thus causing overheating and eventuallly stall. The one motor sounds beautiful and the other sounds unhealthy. He checked compression and it seemed fine and it has new plugs. Maybe this is the same problem you are having...Hope this helps...
