Kenmore 75944 Gas Dryer Questions & Answers
No heat on gas dryer
follow this steps and fix it. God bless you1. Gas valve coils
Igniter glows, then shuts off without igniting gas - the problem
is probably with defective coils (black, located on top of the gas
valve). It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if
found defective.
Note: Sometimes the whole gas valve may be defective, thus not letting the gas out. However, this problem is not common.
2. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer
overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop
heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer.
A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before
replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or
clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.
3. Igniter
Igniter may burn out or break. Replace the igniter if found defective.
Note: Igniters are very fragile and break easily. It is
recommended to handle the igniter only touching the ceramic part of it
(usually white in color).
4. Flame sensor (or radiant heat sensor)
Replace the sensor (located near the igniter) if found defective.

Hi sths67...
You can check your thermostat/thermodisk with an OHM meter..
You will disconnect the two wires going to the thermostat, and then put the ends of the ohm meter on the wires...you should read continuity/or make a beep noise...if you do not then replace the thermostat as it is faulty.

What year was electric kenmore
The year and approximately the month Whirlpool and Whirlpool-made appliances can be determined from the serial number. The second letter in the serial number indicates the year while the first two digits of the number indicates the week the appliance was made. I have a Kenmore 90
Your dryer has a bad motor or something fell into blower wheel and not allowing motor to turn. The drum turns only one way because of locked motor. Will need to open top and then take front panel off to dismantle unit.
The dryer runs but will not heat.

Kenmore gas/electric dryer

When you say electrical power is working Ok ,I would assume you are saying this because the dryer is tumbling.
Which could mean you are only getting 120 volts to the unit but it will not heat with out 240 volts.
If you are getting 240 volts.
You could have an open thermostat, an open heating element. A bad timer contact or a open switch on the motor.
All these can be tested with a Volt-Ohm meter.
((((The Electrical supply must be turned off and at least one wire dissonnected from the component being tested.

Doesn't heat up
The heating element have got old and
brittle over time and finally gave up the ghost. But it is not always the element. It could be one of the safety Hi-limits have blown. All parts of the dryer will have continuity if its working properly. Test for continuity by using a meter set on Ohms,or use a poor man's meter. You can make your own poor man's meter by using an ordinary flashlight . Break the circuit in the flashlight and add a couple of wires to it so that you can make the light come on in the flashlight, that's right hot wire that flashlight. When the bulb lights up you have a circuit! You now have a poor man's meter. The next step is to check each little
gizmo on the dryer that the wires attach to. All the
limits attached to the side of the heat element, the door switch (when door is closed) etc.should have continuity (closed circuit)(the light should come on in the poor man's meter) If you come across an thing near the blower housing with 2 wires attached to it, that is a thermal limit, a safety or a control thermostat (So as not to get a false circuit you need to remove one of the wires to each thing you check) Look for lint buildup or blocked vent going out the house. If everything is good and you have paid the electric bill, then the
timer could be bad.
