Kenmore 60172 Electric Commercial Dryer - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Kenmore Elite dryer shutting off several times...
Sounds like you have a high limit thermostat that is failing. Hence, the reason it works on light weight items, but not on heavier items where more heat is required. When replacing the high limit thermostat it's also a good idea to replace the thermal cut-out (they are usually sold in pairs). Both should be mounted somewhere near the heating element, and both have two wires going to them. Remove power to the dryer before servicing, however. There is one more thermostat the is called the operating thermostat. It has four wires going to it and is mounted near the blower fan housing. There's a chance it could be malfunctioning but I doubt it. Let me know what you find and if I can help any further.

Sounds like the push to start switch has gone bad. Not to expensive to fix, and pretty easy to do as well. You can remove the rear of the console, remove the push to start switch (lift the tab, then turn to unlock) and replace. Be sure to mark your wires so they go back in the right order. Jim

Dryer runs but won't heat up
Is the fuse bown.or is the circuit breaker tripped?
if the fuse is blown or the circuit breaker tripped .the dryer might tumble but not heat.
For jsrock516, it's a top lint filter.
Okay...you need to unplug the machine, first.
Remove the two screws that are located at the lint filter on top of the dryer.
Move the dryer out from from the wall and disconnect the dryer hose.
Remove the back panel. The screws are 1/4 inch socket drive screws.
With the back off, you will need to remove the dryer vent baffle on the left hand side as you are looking at it from the back. This will be the long chute that the lint filter goes into.
Clean the baffle out thoroughly. With it removed from the machine you can probably get away with rinsing it with water. Just make sure you dry it off good inside and out.
Inspect the blower fan assembly. Make sure you clean it off real well. I would not recommend removing the fan, as they have a tendency to break when removing.
Check in and around the bottom of the dryer casing and vent exhaust tube. Make sure get all the soap cleaned up. If you don't, you can get lint accumulations and a soapy residue that turns to a sticky goo.
This dryer configuration is actually easier than the front door style lint filters. Just make sure you reinstall everything in the reverse order that you have taken it off. Keep all screws in a handy container so you don't lose them (there may be a lot of them). When reinstalling the screws on the top of the dryer for the lint filter opening, you may have to move the dryer chute around a bit to get the screws to realign. Do not drop the screws down the chute, or you will have to take the unit apart again to get them out.
Good luck and let me know if this helps you, and if I can assist any further. You do not have to post separate comments. Just add a comment to this exchange.

How to change time settings on a Kenmore series 600 electric dryer
Follow these simple steps:
- Turn on the dryer by pressing the "Power" or "Start" button.
- Use the "Time Dry" or "Timed Dry" button to select the desired drying time. Press it repeatedly to increase the time in one-minute increments or hold it down to scroll through the time options more quickly.
- Once you've set the desired drying time, press the "Start" button to begin the drying cycle with the new time settings.
My Kenmore just stopped while heating something... shows No power... any ideas?
Your Kenmore Dryer has a number of things that can cause this.
Most basic, the house breaker has tripped.
The timer or electronic mainboard has failed.
The element has failed
One of the 3 heat regulation devices has failed or tripped out, one resets itself, the thermal fuse has to be replaced.
