Failure of heating element or control

Kenmore Dryers | 183 views | 1 helpful votes

Several things could cause this problem. A model number would help & what is working OK & what is not working OK. If you can send this info it would help track down the problem.Check to see if you are getting good air flow from the vent out side of house or where ever it's coming out. If it is stopped up it can cause this problem.If low air flow, clean inside the machine where the blower is could be full of lint or have junk where the blower is pincels nails or anything keeping the fan bade from turning. Clean vent from dryer to the outside of house.Clean any lint you see. If this don't take care of it check
high temp cutout , all thermostats & thermal fuses. Heating element could be shorted to the case & you would get half as hot. Hope this helps
Good luck. Check fan blade for cracks or being stripped & motor won't turn it.

First, I'm not a Kenmore representative.
* Check your warranty. call for service
*** there are HIGH voltages in a dryer that can Kill! ***
* Contact;
* Note sear's closing out. May need to check with them who is taking care of Kenmore Appliances support.

*** The following is for information only ***
* Disconnect dryer from power outlet (it's the really big plug)
* how to check dryer (detailed);
* Lots of things can cause the dryer not heating:
* Check power at dryer outlet (220 or 240 Volts AC)
* Check High limits (thermal fuse). Check and replace.
* Check the heater element for continuity.
* Check timer.
* Digital driers have a CPU controller and may have a hardware problem and/or bad programing. This may be caused by a surge or lighting strike. Either way, you will need a MFR qualified tech to check as these newer units are all digital. Some (if you have the wireless option) can be checked by calling the MFR help line. They can check it by internet remote link.
* Older dryers with a selector switch (the knob) gets used and abused. Check rotary switch (they burn out all the time as it has the heater and motor load on the same contact) If it's burnt then change it as it may cause a fire.)
* Look for signs of burning; wires, melted parts, missing or loose parts especially electrical connections.
* vacuum out lint and check all spade (push on connectors) for rusty or burnt connections (caused by high amperage loading from motor and heater load.)
* Final; Again, be safe and call for service. Many of these washer and dryers come with very long warranty (5-10 years) Why fool around with something that is already covered?

I changed one some time ago and had to loosen the drum and tip it so I could put the belt on then had to put everything back again. Have fun but you can do it.

The wheels that the drum rolls on are in need of replacement. They get worn after a while. Try SEARS PARTS DIRECT COM. You will find what you seek. Good Luck Friend.
