Hi,
You are going to hear a sound from the rotating wheel spinning and moving the air... nothing you can do to stop it...it is a good sound!!! It means it is working!!

My Schwinn 430 Elliptical is not changing
I think I am experiencing the same problem and have removed the shrouds. Are you experiencing a clicking sound while the unit is plugged in? All of this seems to deal with the servo motor. Don't be fooled by suggestions to replace the rpm sensor...this is NOT the problem. I am trying to find out what the initial setting for the servo motor and the tension cable should be. I found a site where you can order the servo motor, but it tells me that it could be months to receive this part. Sigh...

Sometimes taking them out looking at the Battery holder for corrosion first then check if the batteries are in the right way ( I've made that mistake ) Also the wire that leads down to the sensor and see if its adjusted correctly
During use, the speed goes to zero on the panel
sounds like the sensor is loose or bad.I have the same schwinn 430 elliptical and my speed stayed at zero and after a couple minutes it would shut down.i called schwinn bowflex and they sent me a new sensor ($2.00)since my warranty expired and i installed it(not fun) and thats what fixed it. im back to working out.
My Schwin 430 power cord socket went inside the
There should be a series of phillips head screws (star) holding the black casing together. If you remove the 2 or 3 screws along the immediate front of the case, you should be able to open it up just enough to see the outlet. It's a small plastic piece about the size of a grape attached by two wires (red and black). The outside of the outlet is threaded so when it's pushed through the hole, you thread a nut on the outside to hold it in place. If you've lost the nut, you can easily tape the outlet in place, or just run the ac adapter cord in through the hole in the case, use the opening at the front you made by removing the screws and plug it in on the inside to power it. Replace the screws and just make sure you keep anyone from yanking on the power cord.
Can not find where to plug it in on machine???
it's at the front, right at the bottom. It will be maybe an inch above the front stabilizer (foot bar). You may have to crouch down to see it as the front is curved and it will be hidden from view if you're standing up. It will look like a little hole, about the size of a pencil, and that's where you plug the adapter into. The hole is black as is the black plastic covering of the machine so it can be a little tricky to see.

Error 1 on a schwinn is a generic electrical error. Check your ac adapter and make sure you're getting the proper voltage off of it. Typically an error 1 warrants a replacement of either the ac adapter, the wire harness (wires that connect the power to the console) or the console itself. If the console has batteries, change those first, then check your adapter. If the problem persists, you're looking at a more in depth problem that will require taking the casing off the machine and individually testing each component of the machine. It's usually worth at that point to pay a tech to look at the machine for you.
When turned on makes clunking noise. I am able to
You may have to disassemble the unit remove the side panels if the foot pedal assembly, arm assembly bearing and bushing are in good shape. You'll have to inspect the flywheel and pulley assembly with the power on & off . It will be a process no doubt.

Call Nautilus @ 800-NAUTILUS (800-628-8458) if it is only the console mast and their is no more extensive damage to the lower frame and if the part is still available it might be worth your wild to repair the unit. If not junk the unit!!!
Computer display will not work
Check your 12v DC adapter and see if that has a good connection. Have the unit check to see if it has 12v DC coming out of it, just by using a multi meter that should confirm it has power or not. Now if the adapter is good then then you might have an issue with the lower board a possible open fuse or a defective computer board, but lets go with simple first.
Error code 2 on schiwnn upright bike
Console displays “E2” error code
Solution:
A. Check data cable integrity. All wires in cable should
be intact. If any are crimped or cut, replace cable.
B. Check data cable connections/orientation. Insure
cable is connected securely and oriented properly.
Small latch on connector should line up and snap into
place.
If the above tests reveal no problems, replace
the DC Motor.

Error code 1 on schwinn elliptical 418
E1 error seems to indicate that the servo which controls the elliptical resistance is stuck. Here is how I fixed this (without using a "crank puller", which would be quicker by far).
You will need a very short phillips screw driver (snub nose), a long phillips screw driver, an allen key set, and crescent wrench.
- Remove the batteries from the unit.
- Remove the screws from the plastic housing (with the long phillips screw driver) on the left side. Do not forget the phillips screws at the front - they are smaller screws so don't mix them with the others. This will allow the plastic housing to flex and move around, but not come entirely off.
- Using the crescent wrench, remove the nut holding the left pedal to the crank. Carefully note the order of the washers on the crank attachment.
- Using the allen key, remove the little pedal attachment piece on the left crank arm.
- Using the short phillips screw driver, carefully reach inside the plastic housing on the top and remove the four screws holding the plastic plate on the outside of the fly wheel/crank. You will need to rotate the crank wheel to reach each of the four screws in turn on the inside of the case.
- Pull off the plastic cover for the wheel.
- Reinsert batteries and gently help the revealed cable (bottom) retract the magnet plate. In my case, the servo worked fine again after helping it retract the magnet plate that was somehow stuck/wedged.
Reverse steps to re-assemble.

Please contact the service center for repair. The tension cable is damaged from the inside & that's why the resistance levels not working.
Thanks & waiting for your feedback.
