Hi Jason,
I too have this problem, but I also have found the solution. Call Instep at 800-242-6110 and speak with someone in replacement parts. You will want to order the spring coupling. The rubber piece and the spring are sold together. The part costs $4.95 and the total with shipping and handling was a little under $8.00. You should have your part within 3 - 10 business days. Hope this helps. Good luck.

How and where do you hook on the bike trailer to
Your bike trailer has a washer looking thing with usually-two holes(one large and one small) The smaller diameter hole mounts to your left side rear axle nut or your quick release wheel nut-meaning, take off the nut or flip thumb tab and unscrew, slip on washer thingy and tighten back down.
The larger diameter hole should be in the downward position like a teardrop, this accepts the bent frame pole from the trailer by use of the spring clip/pin. Slip frame pole into larger hole and lock in with clip and your on your way. ***Just don't forget to attach safety strap from the frame pole to your bike -should the clip ever come undone.(unlikely)
***Do have a bike shop or pro look at the finished hookup if your concerned for safety
