Sounds like battery is worn out. It holds a charge for a while then dies. Remove battery, take it to Batteries plus for testing and/or replacement

WARNING Do not attempt to open the back cover of the Monitor console. This is not a battery storage area; this Computer is powered by an AC Adapter. This bike is to be used only indoors and in a dry location. Do not plug the AC Adapter into the wall until the electronics monitor is completely assembled.

Check the batteries. Make sure the contacts are clean and dry. If that does not help call their custumer service toll free number. Hope this helps.

There's a belt and tension wheel that adjusts the tension inside the body of the bike. The adjuster moves the wheel and magnet closer together, for more tension, or further apart to for less. You would need to open it up to see exactly what is happening when you adjust but the problem has to be with this.
