What does code 7f mean on kv8 pro

Did you ever resolve? This is the board with the external OC monitoring panel, right?! I owned this, too. I had a similar KV8 board from Soltek, as well--post codes, also. My Abit died several years ago. The ABit's manual still exists online. According to the code, It's hanging on the onscreen logo--it says to switch to text. Here's the page describing your code: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/615/Abit-Amd-Athlon-Kv8-Pro.html?page=69#manual If I remember correctly, that's not a serious error code--popped up often after new installs. If it's a hard drive error--do you have the master/slave configuration jumpers correct? (Hard drive vs. Optical drive? Probably, you want the hard drive as master--optical as slave) Is cable orientation (Pin 1--from PATA cable and at drive(s)/board) correct? Perhaps I remember now--maybe the BIOS can't get to the hard drive and OS. Is your floppy light always illuminated (it shouldn't be)--is that cable installed correctly? If your onboard hdd controller is dead--and, you worked with AGP over the years--you likely have a PCI card that will take its place. (If not, you may purchase that pretty easily. still.) Syba, Siig, Sabrent, StarTech, etc. If your controller is OK, have you tried running a live i386 (32-bit) or AMD 64(64-bit) Linux disk or an old Bios upgrade/DOS floppy--to see if you get some type of OS posts? Is your proc 64-bit or 32-bit?: If I remember correctly, 754 CPUs generally were 64-bit--some were 32-bit, though (I still own one of those, too). Did you clear your CMOS first (move the jumper for a few seconds and back)? Is the jumper correctly installed now? Ah, the days of socket 754 (I never obtained Socket 939.....) Socket 754 still is a good value--you may obtain such a proc for about $5 on Ebay. (Used boards are a little pricey--considering.) I get the sense that 754 was the business board--939 was the gamer board. Recently, I resurrected my old Shuttle Athlon XP board--considering its age, it holds up pretty well. Works fine with 32-bit Linux Debian distros. Dual-channel. Great OC board in its day. Currently, I have a 9800XL card in--soon, I'll put in a 3850 AGP....

click start right click on my computer, properties advanced scroll down to system and recovery open settings write and debugging information the drop down button select none ideally, it should already be the default debugger for your system. The Dr. Watson debugger program logs all information related to failed processes to the Drwtsn32.log file. In addition to this, the debugger program can be configured to create memory dump files related to the failed processes. You can refer these dump files to analyze the reason behind a process failure. Perform the following steps to configure Dr. Watson as the default debugger program to record user-mode program errors:

  1. Open Start menu, select Run, type Drwtsn32.exe -I and then press Enter. This command sets Dr. Watson as the default debugger.
  2. Next, run the Drwtsn32.exe command.
  3. In the Dr. Watson for Windows dialog box, select the following check boxes:
    • Append to Existing Log File
    • Visual Notification
    • Create Crash Dump File
  4. Now, when your computer restarts after the STOP 0xC000021A error is generated, run the Dr. Watson command.
  5. Here, view the paths to the Dr. Watson and User.dmp logs.
  6. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the log files and then open them.
  7. Here, check the cause behind the STOP 0xC000021A error.
also you might download and use this registry cleaner it is totally free to use http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/

It turns on and goes

From my experience your mainboard is going into short circuit protection mode, give your mainboard a good clean. Use a paint brush and a vacuum. Dust attracts moisture and therefore you get a short circuit. I have also found that the USB ports can become damaged and therefore the contacts touch, giving you a short circuit, check that the contacts are apart and are not touching.

Hope all goes well!

I want to download sound driver.

@vanney2007
If you don't know to much about your sound, or pc hardware do folowing:
1. go to FileHippo and download Everest free edition
http://www.filehippo.com/download_everest_home/

2.install it

3.start Everest and click on "Computer" icon then "Summary"

You'll see all your PC's hardware, so search for something called "sound" or "Multimedia".
If you have sound card integrated on your motheboard check web page of your motheboard manufacturer.

Start up takes time

Do a replug on all components on the motherboard. The CPU, RAM, Power Supply cable. Clean the motherboard using a dry and clean paint brush. (you can also vaccuum it)If you are skilled enough, replug the bios chip as well but be very careful as you can damage the actual chip.

Hope this helps.\

Start up problem

Try to use another keayboard, if that dosent work, try to do a full >CMOS reset.
error 25 is a weird 1 as although it's supposed to relate to gfx it's also been seen to be apparently associated with faulty IDE cables/drives & even keyboards

Good luck to you

Does not recognise hard drive

Hi, this problem sounds to me like you have a drive failure, it could be that the active partition is corrupted, if so you need to run a bootable repair program. you can purchase repair disks on ebay [in computers & IT software] for about $6.00. At that cost it is worth a try. The other options are run the XP repair console from the second prompt and see if that will do the trick, last option and only in desperation = replace the drive.
