Microwave Oven will not turn on
I may be able to help you or a friend troubleshoot it, but I would need the FCC ID number from the model tag to look it up.
FixYa doesn't always notify us of follow-ups, so feel free to contact me directly (see below).
It could be an issue with your control board, and I regularly repair these at an affordable cost.

Kenmore model 721.63653 I have to hold door up and
Remove outer cabinet. Identify the bad switch in the latch assembly. The microswitches are held in by a plastic tab. Remove the electrical connections and note their location.Carefully push tab aside and the switch will pivot on one of the mounting holes. Be careful. The plastic tab can easily be broken if you use excessive force.

Could the "grinding noise" be arcing? If yes, then the problem could be the Magnetron. The Magnetron can be replaced but at approximately $75, It is rarely worth the effort. It will be at least twice that amount to have a repair shop do it.

What do I do when the vent won't turn off?
unplug it for 12 hours or more and try again. Failing that the button or circuit for it may be broken, also make sure nothing is blocking the vent or nothing in the vent assembly is damaged. if you are opening the microwave make sure you know what you are doing of get a pro to do it for you. get an estimate and compare that to the price of a new one. Especially if the microwave is old or cheap.

Most of them you do have to carefully pry. You look on the inside of the door and you will see the choke seal. It runs around the whole outer edge on the inside of the door. Take a butter knife or a small screw driver and start to pop it up and out of the door. Slowly work around the door until it is completely free. Once you get that out you will see the door hook and will just have to look how it is mounted into the door. There will be a spring attached to it to allow it to pull up and down as the door is opened and closed. Make note of where the spring is attached to the inside of the door frame. It will have to hook onto your new part and back on the inner door.

Is the arm (on/off) switch down into the tray? You may have moved it up during the clean operation and inadvertently shut down the ice maker. Your temps are perfecto.
