Kenmore 64282 Convection/Microwave Oven Questions & Answers
After preheating, the convection oven displayed F1 and did not heat further
Here is some wisdom for understanding F1 fault codes.
In some models, there are subcodes that make diagnosis even easier.
Here's a simple explanation of what's going on and how to troubleshoot:
The F1 code indicates that:
a. The electronic range control (ERC) is sensing heat in the oven when in a time-of-day (i.e., not cooking) mode.
b. The ERC is receiving information to run multiple heat functions simultaneously.
Although different components (depending upon the model) could generate the code, simple and straightforward testing using your ohm meter is all you gotta do to test for it.
1. Check the oven temperature sensor. The oven sensor has to be within spec or it will cause the F1 code.
As an example of being out-of-spec, the ERC will generate an F1 fault code when the sensor shows 1650 ohms during a time-of-day mode.
This is equivalent to 350°F in the oven.
The resistance isn't high enough to generate an F2 code (runaway temp) or an F3 or F4 code (shorted/open sensor circuit).
The ERC monitors the sensor circuit after a heat cycle and expects the resistance to drop back to 1050-1100 ohms.
The fault code is generated when this doesn't happen. Checking the sensor circuit means also checking the harness,
harness connections and the sensor itself.
2. If the oven sensor circuit checks okay, then turn your inquisitive eyeballs to the touchpad.
If the range has a separate touchpad/keyboard, the keypad may have moisture that is shorting several circuits simultaneously.
If the F1 code is given immediately (instead of during or after a heat cycle),
remove the ribbon connector from the touchpad to the ERC after clearing the F1 code. If the F1 code does not return in five minutes,
then cast a suspicious gaze upon the touchpad/keyboard. Shorts may be caused by using an ammonia-based glass cleaner.
The touchpad surface will absorb ammonia-based cleaners that are sprayed directly on the glass surface. When heat is applied,
the surface material can break down causing shorts.
If you're gonna use ammonia-based cleaners on your control panel, then you should spray it on the rag and then wipe the touchpanel
-don't spray directly onto the surface of the touchpad.
3. On Amana ranges with a rotary temperature dial, be sure that the knob is in the OFF position when performing tests.
4. If these tests all check good, then replace the ERC.

Turntable won't turn anymore
The turntable has a drive motor which is located behind the panel that covers the BOTTOM of the oven. It could be that this small drive motor has failed. Replacing it should be simple and doesn't cost much. If the oven is mounted, you can leave it in place in most cases and just remove the bottom panel. Make sure the unit is UNPLUGGED before servicing, however. Please post back with your complete model number (located around the door opening) so I can be sure. I'm having a hard time locating any parts info and want to make sure I give you the right advice.
My microwave is sweating
No. This is usually a sign of poor venting or air flow.
It's possible that the coling fan is not circulating the air properly due to a problem with it or maybe the air vents are blocked.
Also, there needs to be a couple of inches around a countertop model on all sides - especially the back - to ensure air flow.
Look for buildup on the back vent grille.
You can listen for the fan to be running and feel the air flow while it's running. If it's weak or not there, it needs inspection / service.
A lack of air flow can cause the magnetron to overheat and be damaged.
If this is a built-in model also check your air filter, air duct work and outdoor vent flap.
Write back if you still have trouble.
Kenmore over the range microwave tripping breaker
You've found the proper location if you're seeking for the fuse for your Kenmore microwave. The fuse is often found in the microwave's or behind the control panel. You must take off the microwave's exterior cover in order to reach it.
After you've identified the fuse, you may see if it has blown. If so, you'll have to swap it out for a new one. It might be preferable to seek professional advice if you are unsure on how to proceed.

When trying to use convection with Kenmore hood combination it stars then stops and the display says F-5. What does that mean
If you are getting an F-5 error code on your Kenmore hood combination, it typically indicates a problem with the temperature sensor. This error code may occur when you are trying to use the convection feature, as you have described.
To troubleshoot this issue, try the following steps:
Turn off the power to the unit and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
Wait a few minutes, then plug the unit back in and turn on the power.
Try using the convection feature again and see if the error code reappears.
If the error code persists, you may need to replace the temperature sensor. You can consult the user manual for your Kenmore hood combination or contact Kenmore customer service for assistance with this.
If the unit is still under warranty, it's recommended to contact Kenmore customer service for repair or replacement options.

My Kenmore stove timer started going off every 45 seconds
It sounds like you may be experiencing an issue with your Kenmore stove's timer function. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Check the timer settings to make sure that the correct time and alarm settings have been entered.
Try resetting the timer by turning it off and back on again, or unplugging the stove and waiting a few minutes before plugging it back in.
Make sure that there are no buttons or knobs stuck on the stove, as this could cause the timer to activate repeatedly.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to contact a professional appliance repair service for further assistance.

Kenmore microwave model 401.85053010 won't heat or cook anything.
Unfortunately, this is not something that can be diagnosed from a distance, unless you had access to a "Kill-a-Watt" meter or equivalent. It could be caused by a bad door switch, a bad relay on the main board, a bad magnetron, or a bad HV diode. (The HV capacitor is probably OK, because if it were bad [shorted], it would blow fuses.)
