The dryer just stopped working>
Not usually a dial problem. First make sure your breaker is not tripped. If the dryer was working fine and suddenly nothing works its usually a power problem. The other problem to check is the door switch. If its not the breaker/fuse panel let me know.

Kitchen Aid Gas dryer KGYE664WWHI does not heat up
It could be several other things thermal fuse, thermal cut out, hi limit thermostat, dryer coils, heat sensor,or igniter. All of these parts are inexpensive and easy to test and replace. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/gdryertroublevideo.html this will walk you thru the troubleshooting of these components. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available. If you need help disassembling your machine there are videos of this also for most styles.

Kitchen aid dryer Partial drying the cloth
First you should make sure the exhaust vent and ducting and lint trap is not clogged or restricted, birds/insect nests, or lint build up. If the dryer is heating up it is most likely an airflow issue.

Dryer continues to heat when door is open
The model number you put up is for a gas dryer, but you said element, so I'm assuming it is actually electric.
If this is in fact an electric dryer, you most likely have a heating element that has shorted to the case. There is a small chance that something else in that circuit has shorted to ground but I doubt it.
If this actually is a gas dryer, please discontinue use immediately and get a licensed tech over there to look at it.
Good Luck
