KitchenAid KP26M1X Stand Mixer - Page 2 Questions & Answers
The cover cup holding the inside gear (the hook
Cover cups are usually held in place by clips and lockers. If the cup keeps on falling of try checking the clips which are supposed to secure the cup in place if any of these clips happen to be broken then it has to be replaced. If it can't be replaced then try to get some glue to hold the clip in place. If this is not possible then i suppose you would have to look for some temporary glue or tape to hold the cup in place.

Broken attachment knob on brand new Kitchenaid Mixer
Hi LPAYNE724, If you have all
the pieces of plastic, you might try ‘super’ gluing them back together around
the screw, but you might be better off purchasing a completely new knob.
You say the mixer is brand new. Is it still under warranty? If so I’d contact the KA immediately
and tell them about your problem with the stir speed not working. The KA
website is at: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home. Click on Customer
Care>Contact Us> and the toll free phone number is listed to speak
with someone. You can also look under the Warranty & Service Plans to
see what KA will do for you. I've extracted parts of it here:

your “failed” mixer. In the carton, include your name and address on a sheet of
paper along with a copy of the proof of purchase (register receipt, credit card
charge slip, etc.).
If,
for some reason KA won’t honor the warranty, you can still purchase a
replacement knob, just be sure to have the Parts List manual on hand. If you're lacking one, you can download a PDF
version from the KA website: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home.
Click
on Customer Care>Locate Manuals &
Guides> enter the visitor type “Consumer”
and then Enter the 6 character model number, in your case: KP26M1, and select
one of the first two files listed under Parts
List (47) (The first file, KP26M1XAZ4.pdf (304.18 KB), is for a -4 series model
and the second file, KP26M1XAZ5.pdf (724.41 KB) is for a -5 series with
slightly different insides, so make sure you have the correct Parts List
manual.)
For
a series -4 mixer, turn to pgs. 4 & 4, titled Case, Gearing And Planetary
Unit that shows an exploded view for the disassembly and reassembly of your
mixer, along with all the parts. Locate Illus. No. 4, Thumb Screw. (For a
series -5 mixer, turn to Pgs 4 & 5, and locate Illus. No. 23, Thumb Screw). You’ll want either the black or grey Thumb
Screw. The parts are the same for both series mixers, so
take your pick.
Here
are five potential online vendors in no particular order: RepairClinic.com; mendingshed.com; searspartsdirect.com; partstore.com; and Grainger.com (for grease). You should search for ‘food grade grease’ online
(although I’ve seen automotive bearing grease used too – your call). Prices can
vary widely between vendors, so do some comparison shopping.
Good
luck. I hope this helps. Howard, Burke,

Kp26m1xwh Kitchenaid mixer 575 watt stopped working.
On the back of the mixer is a screw holding on the Kitchenaid name plate band that wraps around the mixer. Remove this screw and the name plate and then you'll see four screws (two on each side) holding on the top cover for the mixer. Remove the four screws and then lift off the top cover and you'll see the motor, circuit board and gear box that operate the mixer.
Remove shaft/gear on KA 6qt Pro
Beth,
First you should have the parts manual (Pt No. 8212278 Rev D) in your possession. You can download a PDF file from Kitchenaid, if you don't have it. Once you've have the manual, turn to page 4 - Case, Gearing and Planetary Unit.
I'm also assuming you're able to disassemble the mixer and access Illus. No. 4 - Transmission Housing. You want to remove the cover and place to the side. (Be careful of all the grease inside the cover and on the gears)
Next wipe the gears and shaft clear of the grease.
You want to get to Illus. No 10, so first you must remove Illus. No. 7 - Retaining Clip using a pair of external clip ring pliers.
Next, lift Illus No. 8 - Bevel Gear off the shaft.
Next, remove Illus. No 9 - Retaining Pin. That will finally allow you to lift Illus. No 10 - Worm Gear Follower of the shat.
I hope this helps.
Kitchenaid mixer not running
Robbie. Are you getting any sound when you hit to start knob, or is it just dead silence? If you have dead silence, then it is definitely a power issue, which means it a couple of things could be conspiring to make your mixer not run. It may be a bad controller assembly (the speed knob), or it could be the motor, but either way it's something you can check yourself.
I'd start with the controller assembly and inspect that first. It's possible a connection has come loose. Unfortunately whole controller assembly is on a little PC board filled with resistors, capacitors and diodes, which was not meant to be 'home fixed'. My 'expertise' ends at being able to recognize a resistor from a capacitor, but I don't get much deeper than that. A local small appliance repair shop should be able to determine if the controller assembly is functioning properly or not.
The next possibility would be with the motor itself, but electric motors are pretty simple mechanisms and generally don't fail.
If your getting 'noise' from the motor but the mixer won't turn, then you've had a mechanical failure in the transmission box or planetary gear assembly of your mixer. The inspection and troubleshooting of the transmission is a DITY capability, particularly if your mixer is out of warranty. Just be sure to have the correct Part List manual around when you start to disassemble your mixer. You want Part No. 8212278 Rev D for your mixer, which you can download from KA customer service.
I hope this helps! Howard, Burke, VA
I have a KitchenAid Pro 600 stand mixer, and it
It appears that you've got some internal transmission gear issues, and a situation similar to my wife's mixer, which we got new in Dec 2006. It could be as simple as the gears have become loose and are making different contact, hence the noise. The higher the speed, the louder, higher pitched sound you'll get.
It may also be indicative of a potential gear failure (after all our increasing noise, the bevel gear broke and the mixer 'froze'). If your mixer is under warranty, contact Kitchenaid. If it's out of warranty, then take it apart and do a diagnostic exam of the gearing. Whatever you find you should be able to fix yourself.
Be sure to have the Kitchenaid Part Manual (Part No. 8212278 Rev D) on hand if you attempt to disassemble yourself. It also lists all the parts so that you can determine, which parts, if any have failed.
You'd think that the Kitchenaid name would warranty their mixers for a lifetime... So much for quality in America today!
KitchenAid 2671 onmly run Stir and Second at high speed
Hi. Goto kitchenaid.com and download the parts catalog for your mixer model, these drawings will assist you in the disassembly and reassembly of your mixer.
You'll need to replace the speed control in your mixer. This is a common problem. Be prepared to wait at least a month for your parts to arrive. Unplug your mixer before you open it up.
If you're still under warranty call kitchenaid!
If this solution has assisted you, please rate it. Good luck! ricardok45
Stopped Mixing While Kneading Bread
Hi again Libby. You're right to be scared about further damage. If you want to fix this machine yourself, stop using the mixer. Go to the Kitchenaid website and download the drawings that match your mixer model Unplug the mixer! Take a screwdriver and remove the silver band from around the head of the unit ( 1 screw). Next remove the four screws that hold the top part of the mixer. Remove that cover, and look for a 'humpy" looking cover at the front of the machine. Examine this transmission cover carefully. If the cover is made of plastic, look for cracks. If you don't find cracks, you'be better off taking it to a repair shop. If you do find cracks in the plastic cover, remove the four screws that secure it. Remove the trans. cover.
You will now see a lot of grease in this exposed transmission. Put on some latex gloves, get a bunch of paper towels and move some of this grease aside so you can lift the worm gear assembly free of the mixer ( see Kitchenaid drawing). Wipe it off and look for damage to the worm (spiral) gear. Look for damage on the other gear of this assembly, inspect the 2 bronze bearings at either end of the shaft. You're looking for cracks in, or pieces missing from the bearings, look for damaged teeth on the gear. Should you find damage at any stage, that part must be replaced. These parts can be ordered from the Kitchenaid website, and will take about a month for them to arrive.
When you order the required parts, insist that the replacement trans. cover be made of metal. When my mixer "blew up", my replacement was a metal one. If your problem dosen't fit the above solution. I can't help you further. If it does, please rate my solution.
Depending how much grease you had to take out to do the inspection, you might have to order a container of grease to replace it. Good luck! ricardok45.
Kitchen aid mixer stopped working
Nieu, I'm not sure what kind of mixer you have nor am I should what the one speed is. In my case, I have KA 575 watt professional 6 model that would operate at only the highest speed regardless of setting. If your problem is similar to this, I would recommend that you first check the Hall Effect sensor
which determines the mixer’s speed. I bought another Hall sensor for about $13. I
replaced the original sensor and made sure that the connection between the
sensor and control board was nice and snug. My mixer worked as good as new! But
I was curious to know if my original sensor was defective, so I put it back in
mixer and again made sure all of the connections were tight. Guess what?
My original sensor also made my mixer work! There was absolutely nothing wrong
with the original Hall Effect sensor except that the connection between the control
board and sensor was not tight--unfortunately I didn't check the connection
before I decided to buy the new sensor. My best guess is that the connection between
the control board and the sensor probably loosens and comes undone over time
from use and vibrations. Follow these steps:
1. Download the mixer
parts and diagrams from the Kitchenaid website to see
what the Hall Effect sensor looks like. BTW the part number is 9703312 for my model.
2. You'll need a phillips head screwdriver to open up the
mixer gear case cover.
3. Make sure that the connection between the control board
and sensor is absolutely tight and snug.
4. Also, make sure that the orientation of the sensor is
correct. It's difficult to tell which
way the sensor should be connected because the control board has three prongs
and the sensor can attach facing up or down. After you've made the connection,
run the mixer. If it still doesn't work, disconnect the sensor, reconnect it
with the prongs facing the opposite direction and try it again. I
actually found the right sensor orientation through a little trial and error.
But by going through this trial and error, I also had my Eureka moment when I realized that the
original sensor probably would also work if it were reconnected with correct
orientation.
5. This whole process probably takes less than 10-15 minutes
to perform.
6. Use your common sense
and make sure to unplug the mixer before checking, connecting or disconnecting
anything.
Today mixer stopped while mixing.
OK, you mentioned everything except the brand. I found on some models of Sunbeam mixers that the speed governor would fail due to the control knob screw being loose.
On that particular model, the screw is behind a stick-on label in the center of the knob. Peel off the label and make sure the screw is tight.
If your mixer isn't a Sunbeam, please advise.
Mixer works at high speed only
You might have someone repair it for you; here is a place that charges a flat fee of $69.95 and thats including the return shipping. Check 'em out:http://www.marbeck.com/repair_mixer_kitchenaid.html
The speed controller board sounds like the right direction but it hard to know if that is the issue until you install a new part. This is a known issue as far as I have heard around the internet. You might give KA a call and see if they can help; all they can say is no. I have heard they revised the part to fix the problem; my brother had a couple of boards replaced on his pro model and now it seems fine. Good luck!
KitchenAid Professional 5 Quart stand mixer grain mill won't grind?
From what I know about these and industrial Hobart mixers is that where drive gears are on a shaft they are held by a shear pin that goes right through the gear and the shaft. They are made to shear if the grinder or planetary head is strained. It shears the pin instead of damaging the motor or shredding gears. When they do shear, there is often enough friction to turn the attachment, but not enough force under load. I see two shear pins in this diagram 19/8 and part 14/8. The diagram also show the orientation of bevel gears.
