I wonder how it sounds on another amp/speakers?
Did the person/shop who cleaned it test on another system and say it worked ok? A good dealer of the
AKG brand should be able to verify a problem.

The first thing to check is the phantom power. Make sure it is there. The mic will appear dead without the power present.
