check the thrust plate at the end of the armature inside the gearbox any sign of wear replace, take the gear and lever out and test to see if the noise is still there if it is it could be either a faulty bearing or a faulty armature (armatures can run out of balance) all clipper repair parts for the oster are at www.angliaclipperservices.com .

sounds like the brass inserts have pulled away from the body housing of the clippers (these are where the hinge screws are located into the body) if they are pulling out you require a new body available at www.angliaclipperservices.com .

John! No Problem!
First put the bigger of the two blades witht the size/number facing down, put the cutter on top. (with the side with the flat side of the teeth facing down) Then put the tongue guide inside the tension spring, make sure the tension spring rail is on the tension rail and place them on top of the cutter. To see which bits these are go to: http://www.sheareaseltd.com/clipper-blade-sharpening/clipper-blades-the-parts
This picture whows the front and back, it differs slightly from your blade, but its same meat different gravy!

Hold all this together with your finger and thumb, flip it over and scre the whole lot together!

Blades fell off oster dog clippers but can't fit

With the hinge of the clipper facing you:
Make sure hinge is open, if it is not, prize it open with a flat head screwdriver.
Slide the blade on with the blade siz/number faceing you.
Snap shut.
If this fails, try again, but push the latch in as you snap them shut.
If this fails, you may need repair!

Cleaning Oster 78004-011 Clippers and blades

OK compressed air is perfect for your clipper, thats all it needs! Take the filters off (at the bottome of the clipper, either side of the cable) periodically and clear from excess fur. Replace. As far as the blades are concerened, Brush the excess furr off with a toothbrush or similar. Slide the cutter (smaller of the 2 blades) to one side (past half way but not all the way off!) clean exposed teeth on both blades with a bit of oil and a toothbrush, push the cutter the other way and repeat. Blade wash's tend to rust the blades, you need a big pot of WD-40. Get a 5 litre tub from the internet, only thing is there, postage will be a killer. I work for a clipper repair, blade sharpening company and we have it delivered by the truckload! Do what you do with the blade wash, but do it in WD-40. Wipe off excess afterwards and dont soak the clipper in any liquid because of electrc shock.
Thats all you can do! When your blades go blunt or clipper needs service repair: www.sheareaseltd.com If I have helped you please tell your friends about our website! Thank you!

It is just part of how Oster clippers are. You can try to alternate blades, and spray them with Kool Lube, but they just get warm.
In the event that you would like to sell them or be rid of them, I use their parts to try and fix low income housing clippers.

Clippers will not cut my golden retrievers fur

have you had the blades sharpened by a professional company, you should be able to get around 25 cuts per blade if correctly sharpened. If you have what about the clippers try replacing the Lever which is located at the drive end and goes from side to side.
