PLace the throttle at full position while watching the governor arm. Loosen the clamp bolt on the governor arm and turn the governor crank in the same direction as previously noted until it stops. Now retighten the clamp bolt.

If you can access throttle linkage to the carburetor, slow the engine speed to idle before turning off. As mentioned in the previous answer ... turning off the fuel valve and letting it run dry is good if you are not planning to use it real soon.

Make sure the fuel valve is on, if that does not fix it you will need to drain the bowl on the bottom of the carb. What model is it

There should be a switch on the unit the turns on the outlets.

It may be just as simple as flashing the fields. Remove the end cap of the generator. Look for the brush holder on the top center of the housing The brushes may be worn out or the fields may have lost the residual magnetism. The brush holder has two wires going to it, a red (positive) and a ?white (negative). Hook a couple of wires to a 12 volts battery. Plug a lamp into the generator that will light up when it begins to charge. BE VERY CAREFUL!!!!! Start the generator and momentarily connect the two wires to the brush holder connections. Make sure you observe the polarity Two or three seconds is plenty. If this doesn't work remove the brush holder and check brushes.

some units may have a temp sensor located on the cylinder head that may shut the engine down before it reaches the required temperature.give me the model if possible.

i have the same problem with a new one ,take a peace of paper and cover the battery cover air inlet when it's running ,if your problem stops-it's the seal around the cover,a honda rep let the cat out of the bag,---jk

Remove it and soak it in "Sea Foam" carbureator cleaner. Should just be 2 screws holding it on. Get the service manual from Honda. Honda com Official Site of American Honda Motor Co Inc

Most likely, the carbureator needs ot be rebuilt.

either you have a crankcase with low oil or overfilled and contaminated with fuel.fill oil to first thread of filler and try again,if overfilled by fuel then you need to clean the carburetor float it may be obstructed.if oil okay and continues to shut off you may have a faulty low level sensor.

has to do with emmisions e-10 is known as unleaded fuel with 10 percent ethonal

this is known to be a throttle return spring any honda dealer should have them or try equipment rental places if you like the part number i can add it do not have it at the moment .

clean carburetor fuel jet and tube located inside the stem of carburetor removal of fuel bowl is recommended the bolt is a 10 mm and the same bolt screws into the stem where the jets are located,make sure all the holes are clear re install.

check oil level you should have it up to the first thread of filler hole without it over spilling if so drain to proper level if oil is contaminated with fuel and over filled your carburetor float may be stuck open,if so have the carburetor cleaned or serviced or you can try and clean it yourself.give me an update of your status,honda tech for 30 years
