Rowenta Power Duo Iron Questions & Answers
My iron will not turn on....what's wrong?
Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. If the iron wont turn on it can be caused by a faulty cable, a busted Fuse, transistor, capacitor, switch problem or the main board of system. If you have warranty then you can have it checked an repair for free or if you have knowledge with electronics then you can open the iron and check hte part that is bad
Thanks
Shot of Steam
take it down and clean, it is clogged up.good luck.
Leaky steam iron
First of all make sure it is air tight! If it has a crack or a break in the seal its probably not going to do you any good anymore. Try washing it and rinsing with vinegar to remove any material that may be stuck in there or get rid of mineral buildup from steam and water over time.
Iron leaks water from the back end of the base
This problem is the way that rowenta seals the water tank. If the iron is disassembled and the seal is properly put on it will not leak,, however this seal is a silicone based product and not just an off the shelf gasket. I have sealed and repaired some using a high temp silicone
Rowenta Iron leaking out of bottom and leaks on clothes
I have one of these and have been battling the leak problem for years. I'm a stubborn mechanical engineer and I'm bound and determined to fix this, when in fact I should just buy another, different, iron. The problem is then 'handle'. Built into the handle is the water tank. The water tank is made from two pieces which are then glued and screwed together. Think of taking a coke bottle, cutting it in half, and then gluing it back together. Now you see where the problem comes in... the glue they use isn't up to the task, or the heat... or the pressure... is causing the tank to leak somewhere / everywhere.I have disassembled this several times, meticulously scraped out the old silicone, and tried several different types of silicone to re-seal. So far it always fails. It's good for a while, but maybe a couple months, before it starts leaking again.Conclusion... BAD DESIGN. Very disappointing, because in every other respect I like this iron better than any I've ever owned.
Iron won't heat up!!!
A lot of rowenta irons have a safety or auto shutoff built in them that fails. The only way I have found to fix them is to disassemble it and permanently connect the switch then it works fine, just does not auto shut off.
The power cord is shorting
Normally you need to remove the back plate to replace the power cord, and this is usually held on by one or two screws. With the modern trend, these covers are clipped as well and the screws are of the tamper proof type. Tamper proof drivers and bits are available at hardware stores or some importers of Chinese products. If this does not help you, please come back to me and also describe the back cover. I doubt if you can access anything useful to you through the underside of the iron.
THERE IS A POWER SHORTAGE
Don't keep using it unless you want to get electrocuted... It is cheaper now to buy a new iron than it is to have this one repaired.
