I am not familiar with this watch but if it is a mechanical escapement (which ticks), then it could be that the balance wheel has become dislodge.

Has the watch been dropped lately? If it has, then a trip to a watch repairer is needed.

Nothing of that is normal - yes , you got a lemon, it happens. All parts are covered by the warranty, they should replace them for free. Unfortunately you can't replace the entire watch.
To get a better service make your requests directly to the upper management and don't be afraid in demanding what is due.

I read through the Rado used instructions and can find no reference to date flashing being a warning of some sort, so it looks as though it has developed a fault.

Perhaps it is a low battery warning? Changing the battery might be the cheapest first step to solving the problem.

If your watch is still within warranty, the Rado should fix or replace it free of charge, if it is out of warranty then you will have to pay for any repairs.

If it is showing the correct date, then you could always live with it!
