If the inverter is intended for 6 volt batteries, and I doubt it, then yes. However, it is common to connect two six volt batteries in series to get 12V, which most RV inverters use. I have four 6 volt, series parallel connected batteries in my home providing 830 AH to run the house during the peak periods of the day. I have never had a problem with this set up.

It sounds like you have a blown fuse or an open breaker on the inverter. Another possibility is that the batteries are not charged sufficiently, or are not connected. Some have a disconnect switch associated with them, and others have a disconnect plug. You might want to check that out.

It sounds like you are drawing too much power. Pull all the power from it and try again without ANY load on it. If it comes up in the overload condition, then the inverter has problems and needs to be looked at by a qualified tech.

Hi Larry, I have no idea what the power consumption of your particular fridge is, but mine is very large and consumes 350KWH per year. That's a KW per day. My quasi solar system seems to handle it just fine. You should be able to find the yearly power consumption of your fridge from the manual, or from Vissani's website.

Do you have an input to the charger? If so, check the fuses.

Could it be that an internal fuse blew? I have a 5000w inverter and it has 10 fuses on the rear. All of these are in parallel and protect the power system. The fault light may come on if the fuses blow.

So there are a couple of reasons for this, check the voltage input from the battery, if it's under 10volts or over 14.5 volts ,it will fault. some peak models require the vehicle to be running when you turn the inverter on, once you plug in your rated device, you can try to turn off the vehicle, but again if your battery dips below 10v it will fault again.

inverter problem as it is a required voltage of 14.5 volts to charge a 12 battery ( a fully charged battery is actually 13.2 volts as 6 cells of 2.2 volts each = 13.2 volts )

The purpose of the inverter is to be able to use battery power when mains current is not available.

I don't know of anyone that repairs these things unless you get it from a good electronics shop that offers repair. Lots of people repair themselves. But you need electronic knowledge.

Probably have but more likely a diode or two has blown also.

Could be old dead batteries, but if not that charger is in need of service before something major goes.
