Sharp R-319FW Microwave Oven Questions & Answers
Microwave light on, but not cooking
You need to give a brand name and model number so we have a better I idea what to tell you. And I work on appliances. But there is a point when it just doesn't pay to try and fix it. Evidently it has lived a long life, and now its just giving up.
The lights went out for my clock, how do I fix
You have a two part board. The control and the display. They're hooked together with a 12 wire connector soldered at each end. You might be able to find a weak solder joint. Check for one that is a little off-color, or you might see a crack if you use a magnifier. If so reheat with a gun. Otherwise forget it, the board, if available, would cost more than a new unit.
TWO ANDS. And know what you're getting into before you take the top off. See how to discharge a capacitor on many tech sites. Capacitors have killed people!!! The second AND, is be sure you stay by your MW while cooking. If you mistakenly enter the wrong cook time, well, fire and like that.
Display lights
If the lights are attached to a circuit board behind the front panel, it is possible that this has come adrift and is sitting back from it's design position - this is relatively easy to solve and is a relatively common problem especially if the oven has been often moved around or if buttons have been pressed a little too hard.
Possibly a supply voltage fault could cause this, especially if the lights in question are incandescent bulbs rather than LED's, however if the whole oven appears to function fine apart from dim lights, then this is unlikely to be the problem.
HOWEVER, unless you have a reasonable knowledge of this sort of equipment, I would not recommend carrying out a repair yourself as microwave ovens are notorious for injuring amateur repair personnel due to high voltages stored in various electronic components even after unplugging the machine.
Recommendation is to get it to a service agent - If you are confident that you can safely open the cover, then please do so just to see if the small circuit board where the lights should be has shifted - only touch things inside the cover if you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing. If this appears to be the problem then either get it repaired professionally (should be a five minute job at most), or ask me for more details if you feel you want to try yourself.

Why Does My Sharp Microwave Turntable Get Hot?
I hope you didn't run the microwave with nothing in the cavity, if you did, it will damage the magnetron.
The turntable dishes do get hot depending on the quality of the glass used to make it. Heat is caused by impurities in the glass.
If you run it with no food in the oven, the glass will try to absorb the energy with atastrophic results usually.
My sharp Double Grill & Oven R795 will not heat up to temperature, when used as an oven . Microwave side is ok, can any body help
You might attempt the following troubleshooting steps:
Ensure sure the temperature settings are accurate and that you have given the oven enough time to warm before putting food inside. Check the oven temperature settings. To learn how to adjust the temperature properly, consult the user handbook.
Examine the heating components since they can be broken if the oven is not heating at all. When the oven is switched on, see if the heating components are blazing red. The heating components might need to be replaced if they are not.
Examine the oven thermostat: If the temperature fluctuates or fails to reach the desired level, the thermostat may be malfunctioning. Replace a broken thermostat if necessary.
Verify that there are no blockages inside the oven that could be preventing the heat from circulating. Debris, foil, or bakeware that is too big or that covers a significant amount of the oven rack might all fall under this category.
Sharp Drawer Microwave SMD2489ES. All indications of *****.
It is a motorized drawer and I doubt it likes being opened manually. It would need to be repaired professionally due to the inherent dangers of microwave energy. The drawer motor would be operated by a relay.
Did you read any reviews before you purchased it?

Thumbs Down
- Looks great but features are bad.
Drawer microwaves and this model in particular look great. We did a big reno in December and this is now in the island. Looks good and functions as a basic microwave. Everything else is just south of mediocre. I'd suggest you get a drawer microwave from another company. Bad Stuff: - door opens/closes very slowly (~4 seconds)... doing a 30 second reheat now takes 4+4+30+4+4 = 50% longer just standing around. Likely similar with other drawers, but an unexpected negative. - doesn't let you tell it to start until fully closed - its default sounds and reminders are ridiculously annoying - beep-beep-beep on finish, and 10 seconds after that, and 10 seconds after that, and.... on and on - it forgets all settings during a power outage, turning back on the annoying sounds - and forgets your network connection - but good news, you won't want to use that feature - controls are not intuitive - classic 40 buttons where you use 5 The WiFi & App - hilariously bad. Design in your head the things you would want in a microwave app. Sharp engineers designed the opposite. Can you set the alarm settings in the app? No. Do you get a notification each time the microwave finishes cooking? Yes. I guarantee you will delete the app within 48 hours. Hand Wave to open. Neat right? No. Take how long it takes for this thing to open/close and add another 4-8 seconds of waving your hands (which are full food, else you'd just press the button) to then wait for the drawer to open. Push to close works well, but it reacts in a weird way, so some concern I'm breaking it. I stopped doing wave to open after the first week and stopped trying to demonstrate it to friends after one month (cause it will make you look silly). Height - just tall enough - fits a Venti coffee Cooks at 950 watts - basically the same power as a college-dorm microwave Cost. my god, how much did I spend on this. The good: Looks good Flush install if you have a good installer; mine is shown in a 30" wide lower microwave cabinet by Medallion Reheat sensor cook works well push to close works. It was suggested that I buy a Sharp because they have the patent on the drawer microwave and everyone else is just a re-labelled Sharp. I would suggest you give the others a look. They may be using the same hardware, but hopefully they have a more customer-focused interface and better software engineers working for them.
