Check for any small piece of paper, or metal clip inside where the sensor is. Check also if any of the 2 Hinges is broken because on the left side under the bed there is a small black button which is the sensor of the position. Otherwise there maybe an electronic problem

i do not believe this unit has a chip on the printer cartridge. it looks at the level of the ink. take the cartridge out and look at the clear area, do you see ink through it. if not, there is not enough ink in the cartridge to signal the printer that the cartridge is usable.
