My wife's sunbeam microglide iron
I just took apart a Sunbeam iron. This is how it disassembles:
first remove the screw at the base. Next remove the moisture dial top
(it should just pop off). This allows the iron to slide apart - the
metal base from the top. It should slide about an inch then lift off.
My iron didn't get hot, and what I found is the gear that attaches the
temp setting to the electrical was missing a tooth. Perhaps you could
set the gear to permanently "ON". In my case I found out with brute
force how the iron is supposed to disassemble... time for a new iron...
How to flush brown fluid from Sunbeam Steam Master
There is commercial iron cleaner, but you can use white vinegar and distilled water to flush it. I would use a mixture of half and half. Then let it steam its little self, when it is clear, rinse with the distilled water again, This kind of thing happens when you use tap water and let it sit in it without rinsing after using. I always use distilled water and empty right away after use. Good luck
Iron not heating
Hi nowlinwellsCheck your power going to the iron...if you have power going to the iron then take apart the iron and check the connection inside of the iron because it sounds like the wire is broken and not getting power to the iron. Please rate me.Bud
How to clean a non-stick sole plate iron
I had this iron, and have since gotten rid of it. I cleaned the iron by running it with a solution of vinegar and water, about 1/2 and 1/2. Ran the steam until the solution was empty, and cleaned the nozzles with a q-tip at the same time. It worked temporarily.
Disassemble?
I recently had a problem with the steam button. It somehow during normal use came off its track in the handle and was stuck down in the "slot". After several searches online and this site i tried a knife along all the edges trying to figure out how to disassemble the iron. Well one quick flick with my knife to the side of the steam button and it came out. Well the surprise was the screw under these buttons. Hopefully this can help someone looking to disassemble the iron when they have problems.
My non stick sole plate on my Sunbeam iron is
The discoloration is from a reaction of your water and the shield. The best way to avoid this is to use distilled water rather than tap water or use a water filter. I have had this problem at home as well (i have well water) and using a filter "fixed" the problem for me. Hopefully this will resolve the problem for you as well.
Please let us know if you still have the problem and we'll look for other alternatives.
