The handle gets very hot even after a minute of use.

Hi Jo-Anne, it's Jack at Dyson. It's normal for the casing of the vacuum to become warm in use, especially if you're running your DC44 on Boost mode. The battery and motor are located below and above the handgrip, to ensure the vacuum is balanced for high-up and low-down cleaning. DC44 is engineered to make a pulsing noise and shut down for protection if a blockage is causing it to overheat. It sounds like your vacuum is working correctly - but if you're still concerned, please get in touch with our experts for some help with diagnostic checks. How do you remove the battery on the DC44. There is no push button to release it.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. Like all current Dyson cordless and handheld vacuums, the latest version of DC44 features a battery which is fixed in place, and isn't designed to be removable on a day to day basis. This helps ensure a robust connection between the battery and the main body assembly. Between uses, you can recharge the vacuum in the wall-mounted docking station, or plug the charger cord directly into the machine. It is possible to remove the battery if you ever happen to need to replace it with a new one, but otherwise we would advise against removing it from the machine. I hope this helps, but if you'd like further advice from our experts, you can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
