Low pressure on Delta 1400 series shower head

The Shower Valve is regulated to give only 2.2 gallons a minute. If you have the shower head off test how many seconds to get an approximiate gallon running in the middle hot/cold position. If longer than 30 seconds either the stem in the valve is clogged or the water lines to the valve are too small or kinked.

We purchased a home built

There is probably mineral or rust deposits in the cartridge. Shut the water off and remove the handle and then the faceplate and remove the cartridges. Tap the cartridges and see if any debris comes out. You can try cleaning it out buy soaking it in a bowl of warm white vinegar. Keep moving it around and keep flushing the inside of the cartridge out and tapping it. There is usually a small check valve in the cartridge and you should here it rattle. With the cartridges out turn on the water supply for a few seconds to flush out the pipes. Then try reinstalling them or while they are out; go to your local plumbing supply or Home Depot or similar and purchase some replacement cartridges.

How to remove stuck cap for delta single handle faucet

Take a rag and put over nut then tap all-around nut. Then use your hand to try and unscrew. A strap wrench is the best tool for taking these off. I have been to so many of these where the homeowners have used channel locks or pipe wrenches and scarred up nut or broken off copper tubes. They seem amazed when i tap it a few times and remove it with my hands. Channel locks and pipe wrenches actually cause the nut to bind when using this much force. Make sure you loosen the plastic retainer on top of the nut first. For more details about single faucet repair

Low pressure and flow on hot water side of single handle faucet

It could be one of two problems, one simple, one serious.
  • Easy fix
  1. Turn off hot water angle stop under sink to faucet.
  2. Remove supply line from hot angle stop.
  3. Place end of supply line in a small bucket to catch some water.
  4. Turn on cold water for a couple of seconds and backflush debris from faucet.
  5. Reconnect supply line.
  6. Turn on angle stop and test
  • Complex fix
If you have steel pipes you may be experiencing reduced flow due to corrosion in your pipes. Reduced hot water pressure in the kitchen faucet is usually the first sign since this is the faucet that is most used in the home.

Repiping is a job for a professional. Another symptom you may need a repipe is orange colored or rusty water.

Water will not flow through the bathroom faucet

It probably is a clogged aerator. The small piece, right where the water comes out, unscrews. There is a screen behind it the often collects dirt and minerals. Clean that off and try it again

Delta 400-DST Single Handle Kitchen Faucet Spigot Drips

I've installed quite a few of these from the big box stores that leak. There are 2 rubber pieces inside the valve body that act as seats. The seats are what turn the water on and off as you move the handle. These rubbers need to be replaced. You can buy a delta repair kit, which will contain these parts. Where the faucet is new, it might be easier to bring it back

What causes black **** to build up in the water faucets and the dishwasher and everywhere water comes into the house? We have had the water company here soooooo many times and now they are saying they

The cause is Hydrogen Sulfide either in the wells they are pumping from or due to bacteria. Do you also have a 'rotten egg' odor? High concentrations of this gas can be deadly. You should get the yearly report the water company must produce on the composition of your water and analyze it. You may want to have the water in your home testes to see if it has the same percentage of H2S that they are reporting. You can remove some of it by Carbon Filtration but you would have to speak to a local water treatment company.

Delta 476 faucet is leaking.

http://www.faucetdirect.com/mediabase/specifications/476install_051710.pdf

Here is where to find the manual for your faucet. The only tools you should need are a pair of slip-joint pliars for the main ring and the hex key tool that came with the replacement parts. Remove the handle by loosening the hex screw on the underside. Make sure to turn off the water before you go any further and you will need to turn off both hot and cold.

Remove the dome-shaped cover either by hand or with some pliars.

Pull out the ball with the stem in it and underneath there will be two rubber washers with two springs underneath. Remove the washers and springs and put the new ones in. Put in the new stem (ball with stem) taking care to line up the slot in the side with the nub inside the base. Replace the round washer on top with the triangle hole in it and put the dome shaped cover back on.

Before turning the water on, use the back side of the hex-key tool to tighten the nylon ring that screws down into the dome shaped cover. Put the handle back on and try the faucet, if it moves too hard, loosen the nylon screw a bit, if too loose then tighten it. Once it "feels right" you can reattach the handle and turn the water back on.

I suggest turning on the water slowly and look for leaks. Not as difficult as it sounds.

Low pressure and have take head apart not plugged

Modern low flow plumbing devices reduce water flow by using smaller passages inside the unit. The downside of this conservation is that appliances are more easily clogged by debris that may be in the supply lines. Frequently it gets stuck in the cartridge. I have even found it in the supply line connections.
