The bake element is the heating element that is found at the bottom of the oven. Most electric ovens use both the bake element and the broil element in a bake cycle, with the bake element performing 90% of the heating. If the bake element isn't working, the oven may not heat. To help determine if the bake element is defective you should first do a visual check. If the element is blistered or separated then it should be replaced. The capacitor on the back of the display is failing. Heat warms up the gel inside it. The capacitor can be replaced by an electronics tech or you can buy a new control board display..

It sounds like a control board issue, or the power supply that feeds the control board. They are expensive so professional diagnosis and replacement is advised.

Remove the display and on the back you will see a capacitor. It needs replacing.

If the button in question is on the top left of the control panel, this is for Automatic Convection Bake.
