The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com

2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.

3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.

4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.

5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.

6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

If you have used re-chargeable batteries in the past, yes, otherwise no. If you consult the manual, you will find the correct type of batteries to use.

Two possible issues. 1. The software that checks the battery is either wrong and your are not charged or you are charged. Just attempt taking pictures and see how long it lasts. 2. I don't know the age of your camera but the batteries could be shot and in need of replacement.
