My Canon PowerShot SD880 IS has a black display

I don't have a solution, but I have the same problem. I found one posting elsewhere that said that this was a "common" problem. That person's camera was under warranty. Mine isn't, but it's less than 2 years old.

Transfer video to disk

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER VIDEOS AND PHOTOS TO COMPUTER If your videos and photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

When i turn on my camara it says card lock

Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Sd880 dirt on ccd/image sensor

I would recommend a Canon repair facility, the lens housing would need to be dis-assembled which requires precision and high degree level of skill. Canon is one of the better products and they do a professional job with warranty, check out pricing .

I too suddenly (after 2

Two things there, first... could be a problem with the LCD viewer screen, or, second choice could be a problem with the CCD sensor or go to bad; in both cases this isn't a job that you could solve yourself; this wrong include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

I suggest check THIS LINK for additional details in this previous solutions for an Defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) and next contact your Canon service.
I strongly suggest (taking into consideration the age of your camera) to evaluate the cost of repair versus the cost of a new camera with similar features, before making a final desicion.

Hope this helps.

Sd880 is, smoke coming from flash

You probably have a bad capacitor that leaked onto the flash tube. When the flash tube fires, the heat generated creates smoke on the surface of the tube. You must service the camera immediateley. Call 718-268-6440 mon - sat 10am - 6pm

I have a Canon PowerShot

Sometimes this is just a result of a little dust getting in there and it burning off with the heat from the flash. I've seen this go away after a few shots and the cameras work fine. If it doesn't after like a day of using the flash on and off then I would contact a Canon authorized service center for repairs. Also, I recommend that the camera not be stored/carried in a dirty environment like a pocket or a dirty case. All that lint and dust is likely to make it's way into your flash, lens, etc. Hope this helps!

My camera suddenly had the message "card locked!".

If this camera uses SD cards then what may be happening is that the little lever that drops into the slot on the side of the card to indicate locked or unlocked is jammed in the locked position. If you shine a flashlight in you might be able to see where the pin is.

My camera says no memory card but it has one

Okay a few possible problems first the card might be new and need formatting or the card has been formatted in another camera or computer and needs formatted in the camera it is being used in. Or the lock has been placed on the card here is a diagram to show the proper placement of the lock switch.

Another thing is your camera may be set on internal memory BUT, generally that switches over once a memory card is installed.

My Canon Powershot SD880 is emitting smoke.

This appears to be a common problem with Canon SD series cameras and especially common with the SD880. Canon must be aware of the problem, and since they have not recalled the cameras they must think it is not a fire/injury hazard. Distribution of the SD880 was suddenly stopped despite excellent reviews. If enough of us tell Canon we want these cameras fixed or replaced, even if they are out of warranty, maybe they will FixUs!

When I take pictures of

Here's an excerpt from dlsrphoto.com:
Also if you take pictures at night or under low light you'll get an orange tone to your pics unless you set the camera to an indoor setting. Don't forget to switch it back if you move outdoors otherwise your pictures will have a blue hue.

This is all I could find on this problem, but perhaps it will help.

The camera does not turn on when I push the on/off

Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

If this response helped, please take a moment to post a rating for me. "Very Helpful" would be appreciated.
