1991 Jeep Wrangler "car revving stopped" Questions

Why won't my1991 Jeep wrangler idle when engine is cold? I have to keep revving engine until engine begins to warm up otherwise it stops running. Might be the coolant temperature sensor not sending it

stopped and the idle smoothed out. Pushed the clutch pedal in and it started mis-firing badly. Also, new plugs, wired, dist. cap and rotor. Idles great! revving it up w/o clutch pedal in sounds great.
