Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller "analog stick stuck" Questions

...analog stick doesn't respond right away after being pushed, i have to push it hard for it to respond open it up slowly and gentle then see if there is anything stuck to the analog from the inside ...

my left analog stick gets stuck in any of the directions that I push it in. What should I do? I would replace the controller. It may be damaged. They aren't terribly expensive.
