where is the main fuse on my yamaha rx 496 receiver if unit has a no power fault the fuse is prob ok and unit is in protect due to fault or has a blown thermal fuse in mains transformer

fuses which are well worth a try at replacing. The transformer also has a thermal fuse inside - if that's blown, I'd take it to a tech. The service manual is free here (you'll have to become a member)

Does it click at all when you press power? Sounds like the power transformer may be bad. There is a thermal fuse inside of the transformer that can go open and cause a problem like that
