Red standby light comes on but won't change to green therefore we get no picture. it sounds like your tv needs a lamp that why it has no picture and the standby light comes on.

...Do you mean that the tv stays on but there is no sound or picture? I am not sure whether the green light indicates standby mode or that the tv is on, on this particular model. So please clarify
