Cobra 29 LTD CB Radio "d8" Questions

Cobra 29LTD is blowing D8 after 520MOSET upgrade. Was done right (done a few of these) but this one blows D8. Once I turn on unit, DC power suppy Amp meter shoots up and D8 starts to smoke, then blow.

...radios, to the letter. The radio was stock and everything was intact before the install. Now, D8 smokes after about 2 seconds of the radio being turned on. D8 is a polarity protection diode.

pushed the plug in backwards. Inside the radio, there are 2 big black diodes near the transformers, D8 and D23. Replace these with the same or bigger. You can the burnt one out and the radio will work
