Pioneer VSX-D498 Receiver "vizio tv blue light comes" Questions

...vizio and I was going to use optical cables. problem is it doesnt appear that this reciever will do 5.1 surround unless you use strictly component cables. Am I wrong? Niether my tv nor my dvd player ...
