When replacing the end, were you careful not to ground the internal and external wires or shielding? If you cut the end off, does the outside port start working again? If so, then your internal "rewired" part is grounded.
you either need this,
Indoor Matching Transformer Gold 75 Ohm to 300 Ohm Balun Antenna Coaxial Cable Twin Lead for Off-Air TV Video Signal Component Connection Adapter / Converter
or one of these,
most RV's have a selector box that takes signals in from all the different sources and directs them to the cable going into the TV. Should be marked "To Tv" or something similar. Then you just select the source as Cable.
One thing to make sure is that the cables are actually attached. Take the outside connection apart and make sure the cable is attached to the plate. I worked on RV's for years and this happens more than you think.
It may be that the ends are bad. Replace the ends of the cable first before replacing the actual cable. To replace the cable it is typically ran through the cabinet and up through the roof and is stapled along the way. More time consuming than difficult.
No specified location and every trailer built may have one in a different location. The signal booster that the TV connects to has an antenna input, a cable tv input and a second tv set output on the back of it. If you are using cable TV at a park make sure that the light on the booster is off or it will not let the cable signal in.
I don't want to sound condescending but you will not receive anything unless an antenna or an outside cable source is connected to the cable input. I have seen this and have had this question before. Some people actually believe if there is a cable connection there is reception. Kinda like the old "I still have checks in my check book, what do you mean I don't have any money."
